Chat With The Board
"Chat with the Board" is a new opportunity for residents to sit and chat with one or more members of the Sun City Board of Directors. These informal sessions will be held the second Friday of each month and are open to all residents of Sun City. Residents may ask questions about Sun City governance, policies, or just discuss what is on their minds. The first "chat" will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, August 10 in Pinckney Hall, May River Room. Watch for more information and plan to join us. Bring your questions, curiosity and suggestions. Seating has been opened to accommodate 100 residents.

Election Packets Now Available
Election packets for Neighborhood Representative and Alternate Neighborhood Representative candidates are available at Palmetto Commons and online at this website. Click here for a list of neighborhoods holding elections this year. Candidate packets can be dropped off at Palmetto Commons between September 4 and 28.

Golf Maintenance Closure
Hidden Cypress Golf Course closes at 11:30 a.m. Monday, August 13 for half-day maintenance and will remain closed through Friday, August 17 for aerification.

The Riverbend pier remains temporarily closed for replacement of all wood planks and railings.

Argent Lakes Bunker Project Update
The front nine of Argent Lakes Golf Course and the putting green are now open for play. The back nine is closed for about five to six weeks for bunker renovation and new tree installation. All activities along the course and cart paths in this area are prohibited. The new chipping green will remain closed while the grass grows in.
 
Golfers are asked to not drive their golf carts on the newly sodded areas near the bunkers. If your ball comes to rest on sod, please proceed as ground under repair and take a free drop.

Activity Card Expiration Stickers
As a courtesy, Resident Services is placing expiration stickers on the back of resident activity cards as a reminder of when you need to renew your card. If you have renewed your activity card online and would like to have a sticker on your card to remind you of your expiration date, please stop by Resident Services in Palmetto Commons any time from 8 a.m.–5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

BJWSA Locating Water Meters
Beaufort-Jasper Water & Sewer Authority (BJWSA) interns are in Sun City neighborhoods locating water meters with a GPS unit for the duration of the summer. Please do not remove flags marking the meters. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact BJWSA at (843) 987-9200.

Terminix Service technicians will perform termite inspections in Live Oak Villas and Coastal Villas between 1-4 p.m. according to the schedule below. Residents should be available within the timeframe so the technicians can gain access to your property.

Hwy. 278 Fencing Work Underway
Crews are replacing all fencing along U.S. Hwy. 278. This project is estimated to last about six weeks. No road closures are expected during this time.

Work Continues on Upcoming Argent Lakes Day Spa
Residents will soon have a new place to get pampered when work is complete at the new Argent Lakes Day Spa. Construction work is underway to reconfigure the Lakehouse office space to create a lobby and two private rooms for spa treatments. Work may impact limited shower use during the first week. No other related closures are expected. Stay tuned to eNews Weekly for more information on Argent Lakes Day Spa.

Road Testing Work Continues
Please be aware of roadwork that will be ongoing throughout the community during upcoming weeks. All roads will be tested by engineers for upcoming maintenance. Workers will be taking samples from the roads, scanning for cracks and measuring the thickness of the roads. This work will allow the Community Association to create a road map for maintenance over the next five years. There will be no road closures during this work, but please be cautious while driving during this time.

Golf

Tee Times at Argent Lakes
Because Argent Lakes Golf Course has only nine holes open for play during bunker renovation, golfers may only make a 9-hole tee time reservation through the Chelsea Reservation system or by calling the golf shop at (843) 645-0507. Golfers are welcome to play 18 holes, but it will be on a “space availability basis.” To clarify, when golfers complete nine holes, they can return to the golf shop to see if there is an open tee time for them to play an additional nine holes. Golfers are asked not to book two advance tee times in a day.

Additional On-Site Veterans Affairs Counseling Hours for All Sun City Veterans
The Beaufort County Veterans Affairs Office has added additional on-site hours to meet with Sun City veterans who reside in Beaufort and Jasper counties. Beaufort County Veterans Affairs personnel are available for appointments from 9 a.m.–3 p.m. the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month, and the fourth Thursday of each month at the Lakehouse.
 
No walk-ins accepted; you must have an appointment. Veterans, spouses or family members in Sun City can make an appointment by calling Beaufort County Veterans Affairs Officer Carl Wedler at (843) 255-6880. These appointments are open to all Sun City residents who reside in Beaufort or Jasper County. For any other questions, feel free to contact the Sun City Veterans Association, listed in the Chartered Club News section of SunSations.

Eat Smart, Live Longer Hosts Nationally Known Doctor
The Eat Smart, Live Longer Club presents the nationally known Dr. Alan Goldhamer, director of the True North Health Center in Santa Rosa, California at 7 p.m. August 16 at Magnolia Hall. His presentation will focus on how chemicals added to our food (salt, oil and sugar) fool our internal systems and lead to obesity, and the disease of dietary excess including high blood pressure, diabetes and autoimmune disorders. Open to all Sun City residents.

Sign Up for Introduction to Tennis Clinic
Registration is open for the Sun City Tennis Association’s Introduction to Tennis Clinic, 12:30–2:30 p.m. August 25 on courts 13 and 14. This free clinic is open to all Sun City residents who are new or need a refresher lesson on tennis. Space is limited to the first 16 registrants.
