Community Association Labor Day Hours
Community Association offices will be closed September 3 in observance of Labor Day. All fitness centers will be open 8 a.m.–2 p.m. The Logo Building will be open 7 a.m.–noon. Guests are free with a valid guest ID card from Saturday, September 1 through Monday, September 3 during staffed hours only. Self-use hours at the Lakehouse Fitness Center are for residents only until 10 p.m. daily. Click here for the group exercise class holiday schedule. 

Waste Management Pick-Up Schedule
Hilton Head Hauling will be closed for residential service on Labor Day, Monday, September 3. All residential routes serviced by Waste Management will be delayed by one day this week. This includes all trash, recycling and yard waste services.

  • Monday services will be performed on Tuesday, September 4.
  • Tuesday services will be performed on Wednesday, September 5.
  • Wednesday services will be performed on Thursday, September 6.
  • Thursday services will be performed on Friday, September 7.
  • Friday services will be performed on Saturday, September 8.

Sports Park Pickleball Court Closure
Beginning Monday, September 10, the Pickleball courts at the Sports Park will be closed for resurfacing. The closure is expected to last one week. The Pickleball courts at Argent Lakes will remain open.

  • The sandwich generation? The Breeze panelists focus on the issues of multigenerational families.
  • Extra brings you extended SCTV news coverage of Mayfest, the Pulte proposed expansion of Sun City, Hardeeville development and the Alzheimer solution.
  • Leslie Haas shares some behind-the-scenes bloopers that she experienced in the six months of producing Healthy Eating with Leslie.
  • In Our Neighborhoods visits with Water Lily Cove intarsia woodworking artist James Mallett, and we’ll see the combined efforts of many neighborhoods to “Fill the Bus” with school supplies for Hardeeville school children.

Fishing Temporarily Prohibited in Lagoon L-36
Please refrain from fishing in lagoon L-36 at Sun City Boulevard and Hampton Place, located in Hampton Village. Fishing is prohibited in this lagoon while it is treated for an invasive weed. This will help control the issue and prevent it from spreading to other lagoons.

Hwy. 278 Fencing Update
All old fencing along Hwy. 278 has been removed and crews are preparing the site for the installation of new fences. No road closures are expected during this time.

Construction continues on the Argent Lakes Day Spa as crews put finishing touches on the floors. No related closures are expected. Stay tuned to eNews Weekly for more information.

Road Testing Work Continues
Please be aware of roadwork that will be ongoing throughout the community during upcoming weeks. All roads will be tested by engineers for upcoming maintenance. Workers will be taking samples from the roads, scanning for cracks and measuring the thickness of the roads. This work will allow the Community Association to create a road map for maintenance over the next five years. There will be no road closures during this work, but please be cautious while driving during this time.

Golf

Argent Lakes Bunker Project Update
The back nine of Argent Lakes Golf Course remains closed for bunker renovation and new tree installation. All activities along the course and cart paths in this area are prohibited. The new chipping green will remain closed while the grass grows in.
 
Golfers are asked to not drive their golf carts on the newly sodded areas near the bunkers. If your ball comes to rest on sod, please proceed as ground under repair and take a free drop.

Tee Times at Argent Lakes
Because Argent Lakes Golf Course has only nine holes open for play during bunker renovation, golfers may only make a 9-hole tee time reservation through the Chelsea Reservation system or by calling the golf shop at (843) 645-0507. Golfers are welcome to play 18 holes, but it will be on a “space availability basis.” To clarify, when golfers complete nine holes, they can return to the golf shop to see if there is an open tee time for them to play an additional nine holes. Golfers are asked not to book two advance tee times in a day.

New Group Exercise Classes in September
Check out the following new group exercise classes starting in September:
 
Train Your Brain: 3 p.m. Wednesdays beginning September 12 at Purrysburg Fitness Center with instructor Stacey. Train your brain by using verbal tasks along with movement balance, flexibility, and enhancing your five senses allowing the creation of new brain cells. You’ll leave this class stronger, smarter and with better balance!
 
Delay the Disease – Level 2: 10 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning September 11 at Lakehouse Fitness Center with instructor Keegan. Complimentary class. Must be able to get down and up from the floor. For more information, contact Keegan at (843) 705-4021.
 
Buff Bones: 11 a.m. Wednesdays and Fridays beginning September 14 at Purrysburg Fitness Center with instructor Mary Lou.

SCTA Hosts Free Tennis Exhibition
5–8:15 p.m. September 5 at Town Square Tennis Courts (Rain date is September 6)
Live music and food sales begin at 4:30 p.m.
Sun City Tennis Association will present and exciting tennis event featuring Georgia Southern University’s Men’s and Women's Division 1 tennis teams. Music by the May River Brass Quintet will begin at 4:30 p.m. During the program, the Sun City Veterans Association Color Guard will present the colors during the National Anthem. Burgers and hot dogs fresh off the grill and wine, beer and soft drinks will be available for purchase beginning at 4:30 p.m., so come early, dine well and get a good seat.

Shalom Club Hosts 9/11 Remembrance
Join the Sun City Shalom Club to commemorate the 17th anniversary of the World Trade Center attacks. The remembrance begins at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday, September 11 at the 9/11 memorial in front of Purrysburg Fitness Center. The program will be led by Bob Wiener with assistance from the Sun City Veterans Association Color Guard, supported by the Bluffton Township Fire District. Feel free to bring a chair.

Buckeye Group Hosts Annual Pancake Breakfast
The Buckeye Group will host its annual Pancake Breakfast 8 a.m.–noon Saturday, September 15 at the Pavilion. All donations will benefit the Independence Fund. Members of the U.S. Marine Corps and Sen. Tom Davis will be in attendance. Silent auction bidding will begin at 8:15 a.m. and there will also be door prizes.
