Deadline Extended for GBAC Focus on Education Survey

Residents now have until August 31 to complete the Government and Business Affairs Committee (GBAC)’s Focus on Education survey. GBAC is working to increase volunteerism in Beaufort and Jasper county schools, and your input is needed to complete this initiative! Log in to this website to download and print a copy of the survey from Resident Central. Return your completed survey to any of the drop boxes located at Hidden Cypress, Lakehouse, Palmetto Commons and Pinckney Hall.​

Children's Pool Hours Reminder 

Please be aware of the summer children’s pool hours when bringing your guests to enjoy Sun City’s pools. There are no children’s summer pool hours at the Lakehouse indoor pool and the Purrysburg indoor pool. Guests 15 and younger are welcome to use the pools during children’s hours only and must be accompanied by a resident host at all times. The Lakehouse indoor pool is self-use only 6–10 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 6 a.m.–10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Self-use pool hours are reserved for residents only. Table rentals for the Fall Parking Lot Sale go on sale from 8–11 a.m. Tuesday, August 1 in the Magnolia Hall lobby. Tables are $25 and include two chairs. The Fall Parking Lot Sale will be 8 a.m.–noon Saturday, September 23 on Sun City Lane.

Visit the Library Bookmobile at Pinckney Hall

Noon–2 p.m. Monday, July 31 in the Pinckney Hall Parking Lot
The Beaufort County Library Bookmobile has expanded its Sun City hours and services. Customers may now also use the bookmobile as their pickup location for items requested through the online catalog. Other bookmobile services include an on-board collection of books, audiobooks and DVDs for checkout and the ability to return borrowed library materials. Residents will need to show a valid Beaufort County library card to check items out from the bookmobile. Beaufort County residents can apply for a library card at the bookmobile. Jasper County residents may use the bookmobile if they have an Allendale-Hampton-Jasper library card. Contact bookmobile librarian Amanda Brewer for more information at (843) 255-6547 or

Argent Lakes Cafe Coming Soon

The Argent Lakes Café will soon be opening its doors! Stay tuned to eNews Weekly for more information about the grand opening of this new food and beverage option at Argent Lakes Golf Course. The menu will include cold sandwiches, wraps, salads, soft drinks and more.

Purrysburg Fitness Center Closed for Renovations

The Purrysburg Fitness Center is closed during renovations to the locker rooms. It is suggested, if possible, to use the other fitness centers in the afternoons when there is greater availability for most of the cardio equipment. There will be no orientations at Purrysburg Fitness Center during the renovation.
 
The Purrysburg indoor pool hours have been extended daily as listed below until construction is complete. Extended hours for the indoor pool are self-use and for residents only. Please be safe and always swim with a buddy.
    


Hours for the Indoor Pool Only
 

Monday - Friday 6 a.m. - 10 p.m. Staff available 6 a.m.-8 p.m. except for Thursday staff available 6 a.m.-6 p.m.
Saturday 7 a.m. - 10 p.m. Staff available 7 a.m.-1 p.m.
Sunday 8 a.m. - 10 p.m. Staff available 8 a.m.-6 p.m.


The group water and land exercises classes will continue. The land classes will check-in at the front desk and go directly to the aerobics room as the entire gym will be closed and blocked off. 
 
The water classes will check-in with a staff member at the back pool door closest to the croquet greens. Cash and member charges will be available for class payment at the back pool door. If you plan to pay by credit card, you will need to pay at the front desk, take your receipt and show it to the staff member at the back pool door.
 
Interval Circuit Training (ICT) will not be available during the renovation. After much discussion, it was not possible to move the sessions. Instead, receive a free group exercise card to attend any of the group exercise classes for free at any location. ICT cards will be activated when the center reopens. ICT trainers will be working as trainers on the floor at the other fitness centers during the times they normally would work the ICT program.
 
The Purrysburg Indoor Pool will remain open. Access the pool through the back doors. See chart above for hours. Restrooms will be available at the Logo Building or the Yemassee Crafts Center, so please plan ahead!

Hole-In-One Report
Caleb Belforte, who is 10 years old, had a hole-in-one July 21 at Argent Lakes Golf Course on hole 8 for 81 yards. He used a 7 iron. This event was witnessed by his grandfather, Ron Pozsonyi, sister Mia Belforte and father Brian Belforte.

Think Woodstock – wear your best clothes from the ‘60s, bell bottoms and tie dyes. Sandals are a must! Darryl has been making music in the Lowcountry since the tender age of 3. He has added nearly 25 instruments to his repertoire including string family, brass, woodwinds and percussion. Doors and cash bar open at 6 p.m.
