Road Testing Work 

Please be aware of roadwork that will be ongoing throughout the community during upcoming weeks. All roads will be tested by engineers for upcoming maintenance. Workers will be taking samples from the roads, scanning for cracks and measuring the thickness of the roads. This work will allow the Community Association to create a road map for maintenance over the next five years. There will be no road closures during this work, but please be cautious while driving during this time.

Election Packets Available August 1
Election packets for Neighborhood Representative and Alternate Neighborhood Representative candidates will be available at Palmetto Commons and online at this website beginning Wednesday, August 1.

IT Work Scheduled For Saturday
Crews will be working in Pinckney Hall on Saturday, July 21 with work scheduled to begin around 9 a.m. They will be working in the ceilings as they install network drops for display TVs and a video wall for the Lifestyle Services office. Please use caution when in the area.

Dog Days of Summer World Class Dog Frisbee Show
11 a.m.–3 p.m. September 5 at Town Square
Tickets Go On Sale August 1
Come see the amazing Disc-Connected K9’s Frisbee dog team! Enjoy 30-minute dog shows beginning at 12:30 p.m., as well as music and food trucks for a fun-filled day. Tickets, $16, go on sale August 1.

Carroll Brown’s Irish Celebration
6:30 p.m. September 9 at Magnolia Hall
Tickets Go On Sale August 1
Experience music and traditional dances from the Emerald Isle! This event features music by the Carroll Brown Band, Hungry Monks, Seven Nations and a performance by the Legacy Irish Dancers. The $20 ticket price includes one free Irish coffee served at Pinckney Hall before the show. Tickets go on sale August 1.

Don’t Miss Mayfest in August
5 p.m. Saturday, August 4 at Town Square
It may not be May, but it’s still a perfect time to celebrate Sun City! Due to inclement weather, Mayfest was postponed until August. Plan to bring your lawn chairs and spend the evening with us! Enjoy live music by The Motowners and refreshments from the local food trucks at the event. If you already purchased your tickets, save them for the August event. Tickets are $8.

The Sun Today Offered at Two Locations
Extra copies of the weekly newspaper The Sun Today are now available in Pinckney Hall and Palmetto Commons. Grab a cup of coffee from Pinckney Perk and enjoy it as you read your newspaper. The Sun Today, designed and written for the community through a partnership between the Community Association and Gatehouse Media, is a free newspaper that mixes Sun City feature stories with Lowcountry, state and national news.

Pool Policy Reminder
To ensure everyone has an enjoyable experience at Sun City’s pools, please remember the resident host must remain on the pool deck with guests under 15 years of age at all times. Please, no diapers in the pool area. Strollers are permitted on the pool decks during children’s pool hours only, and kiddie pools are not permitted on the pool decks at any time.

Villa Termite Inspection
Terminix Service technicians will perform termite inspections in the Egret Cove and Summerplace Villas between 1-4 p.m. according to the schedule below. Residents should be available within the timeframe so the technicians can gain access to your property.
 
If there is a conflict with dates or times, please call the Terminix Office at (843) 987-2847 one week after your scheduled appointment to make other arrangements. The schedule is below:
 
July 23: Norton Court, McKay Lane, odd-numbered villas on Argent Place
July 24: Even-numbered villas on Argent Place
July 25: Even-numbered Summerplace Villas
July 26: Odd-numbered Summerplace Villas

  • Okatie Creek Golf Course closes at 11:30 a.m. Monday, July 23 for half-day maintenance. 
  • The Argent Lakes Golf Course practice putting green is closed while the new chipping green is being constructed.

Hole-In-One Reports
Harriet Bender had a hole-in-one July 12 at Okatie Creek Golf Course on hole 17 for 95 yards. She used an 8 iron. This event was wintnessed by Linda Raines, Vicki Vik and Louise Tressler.
 
Jim Clement had a hole-in-one July 16 at Okatie Creek Golf Course on hole 8 for 120 yards. He used a 9 iron. This event was witnessed by Butch Vought and Bob Krivicich.
 
P.J. Mahoney had a hole-in-one July 16 at Okatie Creek Golf Course on hole 3 for 110 yards. He used a pitching wedge. This event was witnessed by Bill Fitzsimmons and Bob Ryan.

Mark your calendar for The Best of Menopause the Musical at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 26 at Magnolia Hall. This hilarious comedy about women who have gone through “the change” will have you laughing and singing in your seat all night. This performance is free and open to all Sun City residents.
