Don’t forget to fill out the Government and Business Affairs Committee (GBAC)’s Focus on Education survey! GBAC is working to increase volunteerism in Beaufort and Jasper county schools, and the committee needs your input. Fill out the survey included in the July issue of SunSations or on this website to make your voice heard. Return your completed survey to any of the drop boxes located at the Hidden Cypress, Lakehouse, Palmetto Commons and Pinckney Hall. Surveys will be collected through Sunday, July 30.

Argent Lakes Cafe Coming Soon 

The Argent Lakes Café will soon be opening its doors! Stay tuned to eNews Weekly and SunSations for more information about the grand opening of this new food and beverage option at Argent Lakes Golf Course. The menu will include cold sandwiches, wraps, salads, soft drinks and more.

Hidden Cypress Spa Closure 

The Hidden Cypress spa is closed due to a broken heat exchanger. Parts for the heat exchanger have been ordered and repairs will be completed as soon as the materials have arrived.
 

 
Tennis Court Reconditioning 

Tennis courts 1-7 will be closed for reconditioning through Friday, July 14.

Lifestyle Services and the Sun City Community Theatre come together to present the Summer Drama Series this month, beginning with Agnes of God. Summoned to a convent, a psychiatrist is charged with assessing the sanity of a novice nun accused of murdering her newborn. The meaning of faith and the power of love are re-examined, leading to a dramatic, compelling climax. Tickets are $14 available at Lifestyle Services.

Sign Up for Folds of Honor Golf Tournament

Registration is now open for the fourth annual Folds of Honor charity golf tournament to be held at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, July 20. Luncheon begins at 1:30 p.m. Sign up as a four-person team for $100 per team. The tournament will be a scramble format. Proceeds benefit the Folds of Honor Foundation, funding scholarships for spouses and children of fallen military. Call any Sun City golf shop for more information.​

Expanded Library Bookmobile Hours

The Beaufort County Library Bookmobile has expanded its Sun City hours and services. The bookmobile will be in Sun City from noon–2 p.m. Mondays, July 17 and 31 in the Pinckney Hall parking lot. Customers may now also use the bookmobile as their pickup location for items requested through the online catalog. Other bookmobile services include an on-board collection of books, audiobooks and DVDs for checkout and the ability to return borrowed library materials. Residents will need to show a valid Beaufort County library card to check items out from the bookmobile. Residents can apply for a library card at the bookmobile. Jasper County residents may use the bookmobile by purchasing an out-of-county library card for $30/year. Purrysburg Fitness Center Closed for Renovations

The Purrysburg Fitness Center is closed during renovations to the locker rooms. It is suggested, if possible, to use the other fitness centers in the afternoons when there is greater availability for most of the cardio equipment. There will be no orientations at Purrysburg Fitness Center during the renovation.
 
The Purrysburg indoor pool hours have been extended daily as listed below until construction is complete. Extended hours for the indoor pool are self-use and for residents only. Please be safe and always swim with a buddy.    


Hours for the Indoor Pool Only
 

Monday - Friday 6 a.m. - 10 p.m. Staff available 6 a.m.-8 p.m. except for Thursday staff available 6 a.m.-6 p.m.
Saturday 7 a.m. - 10 p.m. Staff available 7 a.m.-1 p.m.
Sunday 8 a.m. - 10 p.m. Staff available 8 a.m.-6 p.m.


The group water and land exercises classes will continue. The land classes will check-in at the front desk and go directly to the aerobics room as the entire gym will be closed and blocked off. 
 
The water classes will check-in with a staff member at the back pool door closest to the croquet greens. Cash and member charges will be available for class payment at the back pool door. If you plan to pay by credit card, you will need to pay at the front desk, take your receipt and show it to the staff member at the back pool door.
 
Interval Circuit Training (ICT) will not be available during the renovation. After much discussion, it was not possible to move the sessions. Instead, receive a free group exercise card to attend any of the group exercise classes for free at any location. ICT cards will be activated when the center reopens. ICT trainers will be working as trainers on the floor at the other fitness centers during the times they normally would work the ICT program.
 
The Purrysburg Indoor Pool will remain open. Access the pool through the back doors. See chart above for hours. Restrooms will be available at the Logo Building or the Yemassee Crafts Center, so please plan ahead!

The Argent Lakes Weekend Special price of $25 is now available every day in July and August. Cost covers 18 holes of golf with a golf cart. The special rate is not valid for Community Association events and may not be split for two 9-hole rounds.

You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown Hits the Stage July 27
The Sun City Community Theatre (SCCT) will perform an abridged version of the musical You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 27 at Magnolia Hall. The cast includes several familiar SCCT faces along with some new members. Free show; open to all Sun City residents.
