Nature Trail Closure
The Nature Trail has received extensive tree damage. The trail from the Sun City Boulevard side will be closed until repairs can be made. Updates will be shared when more information is available.

Project Request Deadlines
Residents are reminded that the deadline for clubs, groups and residents to submit Project Request Forms for any capital project for 2018 is June 30, 2018.

Deadline for submission of Project Request Forms for any capital project for 2019 is September 15, 2018.
 
Project Request Forms are available online by logging into this website and clicking "Documents" at the top of Resident Central. Then click "Other." The document is listed under "Forms."

Lake Somerset Dock Closure
The Lake Somerset dock, pier and model boat area will be closed through the evening of Friday, June 29 for the installation of a new dock at Lake Somerset.

Fourth of July Holiday Hours and Guest Info
Community Association offices will be closed Wednesday, July 4. Fitness centers will be open 8 a.m.–2 p.m. The Logo Building will operate with normal hours. Guests will be free at fitness centers with valid guest ID cards July 1–4 during staffed hours. The Lakehouse Fitness Center will be self-use for residents only until 10 p.m.

Don’t Miss the Fourth of July Celebration
4 p.m. Wednesday, July 4 at Town Square
Sun City is the place to be to enjoy all your favorite July 4 festivities! Bring your entire family for karaoke, photo booth fun, some friendly competition, food and music. Outdoor sports and the Purrysburg outdoor pool will be open 8 a.m.–10 p.m., with pool monitors available from 4–8 p.m. Food and a cash bar will be open at 4 p.m. and Palmetto Soul will get the party started with music at 6 p.m. It all ends with a fireworks display at dusk.
 
July 4 Parking Reminders
• No parking on Sun City Boulevard or any grass. Golf carts will be allowed to park on both sides of Sun City Lane perpendicular to the road (front end facing out). Do not park on the lawn.
• No parking on golf course property, including golf cart paths.
• A 425-yard perimeter is required around the fireworks display. No chairs will be allowed on the lawns of the croquet courts or lawns adjacent to the lagoon.
• Fire lanes must be kept open at all times. Please do not park between red safety cones. Observe all no parking signs. Securitas will issue tickets on all violations.
• Sun City Boulevard will be closed between Del Webb Blvd and Sun City Lane just before, during and after the fireworks display. Expect delays if traveling in that area of the community.

• Golf cart travel is encouraged
• Motorists and pedestrians are not permitted to watch the fireworks display from Millennium Bridge.

Crazy, Fun Sunday Ice Cream Party
3–5 p.m. Sunday, July 1 at the Pavilion
Bring the grandchildren out for a fun ice cream party at the Pavilion, complete with balloon art and face painting. Tickets are $10 per child.

Starting Monday, July 2, catch new episodes of SCTV’s programs. Here’s what you’ll see:
  • The Breeze panelists get nostalgic about childhood heroes and memorabilia and later look at today’s role models
  • Leslie Haas creates “simple summer suppers” in Healthy Eating with Leslie
  • Extra checks in on Staying Connected, looks back on the Veterans Day Memorial Day tribute and gets to the root of what’s happening at the Okatie Farmers Club gardens
  • So much charity work goes on In Our Neighborhoods. Stratford Village packs supplies for our military and Edgewater residents collect cereal. Heron Pointers share their talent at karaoke. The featured Neighborhood Representative is from Heron’s Pointe.

Check Out the New Palmetto Commons Art Gallery
Stop by Resident Services in Palmetto Commons to see a new exhibit of original art from your Sun City neighbors. The Community Services Department is partnering with the All About Art Club and Photography Club to create the gallery, which will rotate every quarter and will feature a different theme every six months. The inaugural theme is “The Lowcountry” with art from the All About Art Club. The Photography Club will display photographs in October. The art will be available for purchase.
 
Artists interested in displaying their work may contact the All About Art Club or Photography Club for details about how to get involved. Contact information for both clubs is available in the Chartered Club News section of SunSations.

Golf Course Maintenance Closures

  • Okatie Creek Golf Course closes at 11:30 a.m. Monday, July 2 for half-day maintenance. 
  • The Argent Lakes Golf Course practice putting green is closed while the new chipping green is being constructed.

Tim Rupert had a hole-in-one June 17 at Hidden Cypress Golf Course on Hole 17 for 151 yards. He used a  7 Iron. This event was witnessed by Ken Aerni, Tom Wolff and Jim Gilchrist.

Gentle Yoga: 10:15 a.m. Friday, June 29 and Friday, July 6 at the Lakehouse
Restorative Release: 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays at the Lakehouse; no classes for the summer. Will resume September 4.

Sign Up for New Class: Kooking with Keegan
3 p.m. Mondays, July 23-August 13 at the Lakehouse
Come “kook” with Keegan Hudson, Health and Wellness Coordinator and chef! The focus will be on healthy, affordable alternatives to cooking everyday foods. Keegan wants to share his love for great tasting foods with his knowledge of healthier choices. Oktoberfest Tickets On Sale Now
Tickets for the inaugural outdoor Sun City Hilton Head Oktoberfest are on sale now. This event will be 4–7:30 p.m. October 19 at Town Square. Spend the afternoon with your neighbors enjoying German delicacies, beer tasting, shopping and music by the Rhinelanders. Sundancers July Dance Classes
The Sundancers club is conducting a variety of dance classes in July and August. Anyone is welcome to attend, and classes are suitable for beginners. No special attire is required, but participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and shoes. Classes are $2 each and most are held in the Magnolia Hall rehearsal room.
