Share Your Feedback on Sun City Pools

The Board of Directors has formed a task force to examine a number of issues relative to our pools. We would also like to solicit input from all other interested residents. We have set up an email box for residents to send their thoughts. The email is pools@schhca.com.  
 
Please include your name, neighborhood and thoughts on the issues the task force should consider. Give a brief explanation of each issue you list. 
 
These thoughts will provide the task force with topics to consider in completing their task. Residents who submit an email will not receive a reply.

Ready or Not: Hurricane Workshop 

9 a.m. Thursday, May 25 in Pinckney Hall
The 2017 hurricane season starts June 1. Make sure you’re ready by attending the annual hurricane preparedness meeting. Please note there will no longer be an 11 a.m. session as previously advertised. Also, be on the lookout for the redesigned Hurricane Preparedness Guide, which will be delivered to all households with the June issue of SunSations.

Save the Date for Villa Meeting 
1–3 p.m. Thursday, May 25 at Magnolia Hall
The Community Association and BB&T Carswell will hold an informational meeting to discuss the 2017 Villa Neighborhood Property Insurance Program and the flow of communication for villa residents. Topics of discussion include insurance requirements, insurance process, insurance coverage review, claim process, flow of communication and more. There will be a question-and-answer session after the presentation.

Golfers and nongolfers are invited to join the Sun City Golf staff and the Golf Advisory Committee on guided tours of the community’s three golf courses, beginning with a tour of Argent Lakes Golf Course at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 31. Other tours include Hidden Cypress Golf Course at 9 a.m. June 7 and Okatie Creek Golf Course at 9 a.m. June 14. Learn the history behind the greens and all about what each course has to offer during each tour.

Mayfest Tickets On Sale Now

5 p.m. Saturday, May 27 at the Lakehouse
Bring your lawn chairs and spend the evening celebrating Sun City! Shop the club merchandise, and eat, drink and be merry with great food, cold beer, wine and other drinks. Two great food trucks, Squeaky Beaver and Rollin’ Smoke, will provide the food. Enjoy an out-of-this-world concert by The Swingin’ Medallions, and challenge your neighbor to a game of corn hole. Golf cart parking suggested and a free wheelchair-accessible trolley service will be provided from Pinckney Hall. Tickets are $8 per person. Gate and cash bar open at 5 p.m.

Cumberland Island and Fernandina Beach
Thursday, June 1
This trip highlights Fernandina Beach on Amelia Island, Florida. Travel to this quaint waterfront village of shops, restaurants and boutiques. Lunch is included at one of the local restaurants before boarding a sightseeing boat for a narrated cruise around Cumberland Island, the southern-most Georgia’s Golden Isles. Common Area Maintenance

Please do not feed the wildlife, aside from backyard birds at your feeder. Feeding alligators is especially dangerous, and is illegal and against community rules. Fed alligators become aggressive and will have to be removed from the lagoon and destroyed.

Did you know that you can pick up free paint for your mailbox and post at the Facilities Maintenance office in the Okatie Maintenance yard? All you need to bring is a small container with a lid. Stop by between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Please remember that driving range baskets and golf balls are Sun City Hilton Head Community Association property. Driving range golf balls are for use on the day of play only. If you have range baskets or balls, please return them to any Sun City Hilton Head golf course.

Get Golf Ready in Five Days continues with dates in May. If you have always wanted to play golf or be reunited with the game in a beginner-friendly environment, this is the program for you. The program consists of five 90-minute classes over six days. Click here for a schedule. Cost is $99. Golf clubs are available for those who need them. Proper golf attire is required. Hole-In-One Reports
Susan Abolafia had a hole-in-one April 30 at Okatie Creek Golf Course on hole 12 for 93 yards. She used a seven iron. This event was witnessed by Alla Abolafia, Helen Eliades and Dan Eliades.

Pilates Plus Begins May 8
Pilates Plus, a new group exercise class, begins at 9 a.m. Monday, May 8 at Hidden Cypress Fitness Center. The class will begin with a moderately paced cardio warm-up, followed by slow, steady isometric strengthening exercises to tone the upper, lower and core muscle groups. The class ends with a slow stretch. Lois will be the instructor.

Journey to Self-Discovery Through the Enneagram

In this workshop led by resident Judy Owen, learn how to unravel the mystery of who we are with the Enneagram. This ancient psychospiritual system identifies the nine distinct habits of thinking, feeling and behaving. Cost is $30. Register at the Lakehouse.

Military Sundry Items Collection
The Sun City Veterans Association is collecting sundry items to send to U.S. troops in the Middle East. Collection boxes will be at Pinckney Hall, Hidden Cypress, Purrysburg Fitness Center and the Lakehouse through May 5. Items requested most by the soldiers are toothpaste, bar soap, shampoo, toothbrushes, tube socks, deodorant, razors and razor blades, lotion, lip balm, sun screen, wet wipes, foot powder and snacks.

Avant Gardeners Club Presents 16th Sun City Garden Tour
The Avant Gardeners will host its 16th Sun City Garden Tour from 9 a.m.–1 p.m. Monday, May 15. Visit seven gardens at the peak of spring perfection. Annual Pet Fair
The Dog and Pet Lovers Club is hosting its second annual Pet Fair 10 a.m.–noon Saturday, May 20 at the Pavilion to support local animal rescue and adoption groups. This event is free and open to Sun City residents and guests. There will be vendors, prize drawings and Abby Bird will demonstrate dog agility training. Duffie Stone, solicitor for the 14th Judicial District, will be the guest speaker at the next Forum Club meeting at 9 a.m. Friday, May 26 in Magnolia Hall. Mr. Stone has also been appointed to serve on the South Carolina Commission of Prosecution Coordination and elected to serve on the Board of Directors of the District Attorneys Association. Coffee and donuts will be available at 8 a.m.
