Kids Camp 2018 Changes
Due to the ongoing reorganization of the Lifestyle Services Department, safety concerns and staff availability, the Kids Camp tentatively scheduled for late June will be rescheduled for new dates in June 2019. The new event planned for next year will be bigger, better and more entertaining than ever before. Stay tuned for the announcement of the 2019 Kids Camp dates later this year.
 
To “sweeten” the deal, Lifestyle Services will throw a Crazy, Fun Sunday Ice Cream party from 3–5 p.m. July 1 at the Pavilion for kids to enjoy ahead of the July 4 Celebration. There will be a clown, balloon art and face painting. Tickets, $10, are available at Lifestyle Services in Pinckney Hall. Adults may purchase ice cream at the event (cash only).

Stormwater Basics Seminar
10 a.m. Monday, May 14 at Magnolia Hall
This free seminar is presented by Thomas and Hutton Engineering. A representative from Thomas and Hutton will be able to answer your questions about stormwater at the end of the presentation.

Annual Hurricane Seminar Coming Soon
10 a.m. Thursday, May 17 at Pinckney Hall
Hurricane season is right around the corner and now is the time to update your hurricane evacuation plan and get all the information you need to be prepared in the event of a hurricane. The Community Association presents this annual seminar to explain the Association’s role in the event of a hurricane evacuation. Topics include how the Association prepares and responds to a hurricane, rules regarding hurricane shutters, how to stay informed and what happens during a community closure and re-entry process.

Are You a "Super Ager?" Let Us Know!
Deadline to apply: Friday, May 18
There’s a new term in the health and wellness industry called “super-ager,” which describes people over 75 years old who have incredible health to rival those decades younger. The Health and Wellness Department is looking for Sun City’s own super-agers! Pick up an entry form from any fitness center and complete the three easy questions. Return your entry form to any fitness center by Friday, May 18. The selected super-agers will be awarded during the National Senior Fitness & Sports Day ceremony at 11 a.m. May 30 in the Pavilion. Winners must be able to attend event;

If you call and receive a signal other than a ringtone, the line is in use and you will need to call back to be connected. The Buzz Line will not accept voicemail messages. Sign Up for June Irrigation Seminars
1 p.m. and 3 p.m. June 7 at the Lakehouse Ballroom
Signups begin Monday, May 21 at Palmetto Commons
Argent II residents can learn about irrigation at an upcoming free seminar offered in two sessions in June. Sign up beginning Monday, May 21 at Palmetto Commons to reserve your seat. Space is limited to 40 spots per session. Future seminars are planned for September.

Staying Connected Relocation
The Staying Connected Resource Hub will re-open in its new Yemassee Crafts Center location Monday, May 7. The Resource Hub has an extensive catalogue of locally available services, support groups and information that can help residents deal with life-changing events. Much of the information is tailored to the needs of the Sun City demographic. The Resource Hub is open to all Sun City residents and their families. There is no charge for using the Resource Hub.

Hole-In-One Reports
Ed Tavares had a hole-in-one April 26 at Hidden Cypress on hole 17 for 128 yards. He used a 7 iron. This event was witnessed by Luis Martin and Lewis Kraimer.
 
Randy Whitledge had a hole-in-one April 26 at Hidden Cypress on hole 2 for 125 yards. He used a pitching wedge. This event was witnessed by Tony Cruz, Don Moran and Tommy Wilkerson.

Group Exercise Class Cancelations
The following group exercise classes are canceled:

  • Dance Fit: 11 a.m. and 10 a.m. Friday May 4 and Saturday, May 5 at Hidden Cypress Fitness Center with Stacey.
  • Country Heat: 9 a.m. Fridays at Purrysburg Fitness Center with Susan
  • Canceled for the summer – Dance Fit: 4 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at Purrysburg Fitness Center with Stacey
  • Canceled for the summer – Pilates Plus: 1:30 p.m. Fridays at Purrysburg Fitness Center with Lois.

The following group exercise class times have changed:

  • Total Body Toning is now 8–8:55 a.m. Saturdays at Purrysburg Fitness Center with Lois.
  • Indoor Cycling is now 9:15–10:10 a.m. Saturdays at Purrysburg Fitness Center.

New Group Exercise Classes
Zumba: 9–9:55 a.m. Fridays beginning May 4 at Purrysburg Fitness Center. Taught by Victoria.
 
Buff Bones: 11–11:55 a.m. Wednesdays at Purrysburg Fitness Center. Instructor Mary Lou Bacik teaches Pilates, strength training, functional movement and therapeutic exercise based on research. This is a safe workout for those with osteoporosis or osteopenia. Class is limited to 15 participants. Sign up at Purrysburg Fitness Center or call (843) 705-4022.

Join the Health and Wellness Department and celebrate National Senior Fitness & Sports Day. The theme for this year’s event is “Active Today…Healthier Tomorrow.” Participate in the complimentary activities planned to help you get active today so that you can feel healthier and happier tomorrow! The event will conclude with a motivational guest speaker presenting our very first “Super-ager” awards and speaking about what makes people happy.

5 p.m. Saturday, May 26 at the Lakehouse
It’s almost time to celebrate Sun City! Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy an out-of-this world concert by The Motowners, plus great food from food trucks and cold beer, wine and other drinks. Golf cart parking is suggested. There will be a free shuttle from Pinckney Hall. Gates and cash bar open at 5 p.m.; band starts at 6 p.m. Tickets are $8 per person.

SCVA Collecting Old Flags for Disposal, Sundry Items for Troops
The Sun City Veterans Association (SCVA) will collect old U.S. flags for proper disposal 8 a.m.–4 p.m. Thursday, May 3 and Friday, May 4 in the Pinckney Hall lobby. New flags, flag poles and mounting brackets will be for sale. Cash and checks only. In addition, SCVA will collect sundry items for active duty troops in the Middle East. Requested items include toothpaste, toothbrushes, sunscreen, shaving items, lotion, deodorant, hand wipes, soap, shampoo, foot powder, white cotton socks and lip balm. The SCVA will pack and ship these items.

Event for South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster
The Republicans of Sun City Hilton Head will host an event for South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster at 3 p.m. Monday, May 7 at Magnolia Hall. Doors open at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are free but required.
