Town Hall Meeting
2 p.m. Thursday, May 17 at Pinckney Hall
Residents are invited to a Town Hall Meeting as Troon Golf presents an Argent Lakes Program Enhancement Update. Topics of discussion include the recommended strategic placement of additional trees on the golf course, the addition of a putting green and an updated timeline for enhancements. Residents who have purchased a home along the Argent Lakes Golf Course are encouraged to attend and learn about the placement of additional trees on the course.

Room Request Form Clarification
Lifestyle Services will not utilize the CA 105 No Change Request Forms for 2019. All Chartered Clubs will need to fill out the CA 110 Meeting Room Request Form. Forms for 2019 may be submitted beginning Thursday, July 5. Room requests for the remaining 2018 year are still being accepted.

Fitness Center Schedule for New Equipment Installation
Fitness centers will experience closures May 29-31 for the installation of new fitness equipment. Please note the following schedule:
Purrysburg Fitness Center: Closed 5–8 p.m. Tuesday, May 29 for extraction of old cardio equipment. Entry to the Purrysburg indoor pool will be accessible through the back doors only beginning at 5 p.m.
 
Purrysburg Fitness Center: Closed 6 a.m.–8 p.m. Wednesday, May 30. There will be no group exercise classes. Entry to the Purrysburg indoor pool will be accessible through the back doors only.
 
Hidden Cypress Fitness Center: Closed 5–8 p.m. Wednesday, May 30 for extraction of old cardio equipment.
 
Purrysburg Fitness Center: Reopens to normal hours Thursday, May 31 with new cardio equipment.
 
Hidden Cypress and Lakehouse Fitness Center: Closed 6 a.m.–8 p.m. Thursday, May 31.

Kids Camp 2018 Changes
Due to the ongoing reorganization of the Lifestyle Services Department, safety concerns and staff availability, the Kids Camp tentatively scheduled for late June will be rescheduled for June 2019. The new event planned for next year will be bigger, better and more entertaining than ever before. Stay tuned for the announcement of the 2019 Kids Camp dates later this year.
 
To “sweeten” the deal, Lifestyle Services will throw a Crazy, Fun Sunday Ice Cream party from 3–5 p.m. July 1 at the Pavilion for kids to enjoy ahead of the July 4 Celebration. There will be a clown, balloon art and face painting. Tickets, $10, are available at Lifestyle Services in Pinckney Hall. Adults may purchase ice cream at the event (cash only).

Ready or Not: Annual Hurricane Seminar
10 a.m. Thursday, May 17 at Pinckney Hall
Hurricane season is right around the corner and now is the time to update your hurricane evacuation plan and get all the information you need to be prepared in the event of a hurricane. The Community Association presents this annual seminar to explain the Association’s role in the event of a hurricane evacuation. Topics include how the Association prepares and responds to a hurricane, how to stay informed and what happens during a community closure and re-entry process.

National Senior Fitness & Sports Day
8:30 a.m.–Noon Wednesday, May 30 at the Pavilion and Town Square
Join the Health and Wellness Department and celebrate National Senior Fitness & Sports Day. The theme for this year’s event is “Active Today…Healthier Tomorrow.” Participate in the complimentary activities planned to help you get active today so that you can feel healthier and happier tomorrow! Please remember to bring water. The event will conclude with a motivational guest speaker and the presentation of our first-ever “Super-ager” awards.

Event Closures
Town Square, including Pinckney Hall, tennis, bocce and croquet courts, and the Yemassee Crafts Center, will be closed from 8–9 a.m. during this event. Security will block all entrances to Town Square from 8–9 a.m., except one entrance across from Palmetto Commons. Participants for the walk/run event arriving before 8 a.m. can use any Town Square entrance.

Are You a "Super Ager?" Let Us Know!
Deadline to apply: Friday, May 18
There’s a new term in the health and wellness industry called “super-ager,” which describes people over 75 years old who have incredible health to rival those decades younger. The Health and Wellness Department is looking for Sun City’s own super-agers! Pick up an entry form from any fitness center and complete the three easy questions. Return your entry form to any fitness center by Friday, May 18. The selected super-agers will be awarded during the National Senior Fitness & Sports Day ceremony at 11 a.m. May 30 in the Pavilion. Winners must be able to attend event.

Sign Up for June Irrigation Seminars
1 p.m. and 3 p.m. June 7 at the Lakehouse Ballroom
Signups begin Monday, May 21 at Palmetto Commons
Argent II residents can learn about irrigation at an upcoming free seminar offered in two sessions in June. Sign up beginning Monday, May 21 at Palmetto Commons to reserve your seat. Space is limited to 40 spots per session. Future seminars are planned for September.

Staying Connected Relocation
The Staying Connected Resource Hub has re-located to The Yemassee Crafts Center.  A helpful staff of trained volunteers is ready to listen and offer information about locally available assistance and services. By using their extensive catalog of services and support groups, much of it tailored to the Sun City demographic, they can help a concerned resident or family member with the assistance they need. The Resource Hub is open to all Sun City residents.

Managed Neighborhoods Buzz Line Returns
Villa, Cottage and Argent II residents are now able to call the Managed Neighborhoods Buzz Line at (843) 645-4517 to get daily updates and notifications regarding landscaping schedules. If you call and receive a signal other than a ringtone, the line is in use and you will need to call back to be connected. The Buzz Line will not accept voicemail messages. Email managed.neighborhoods@schhca.com with concerns or requests.

Tour Edge Demo Day: 11 a.m.–3 p.m. Wednesday, May 16 at Hidden Cypress Golf Course. No appointment necessary. For additional information, please contact Kevin Foley at (843) 705-4017. Proper golf attire is required.

Taylor Made Demo Day: 11 a.m.–3 p.m. Thursday, May 24 at Okatie Creek Golf Course. Taylor Made techs will take a limited amount of club fitting appointments. Sign up by calling the Okatie Creek golf shop at (843) 705-4653. If you are just interested in trying out their latest clubs, no appointment is necessary.

Hole-In-One Reports
Bonnie Fogarty had a hole-in-one May 4 at Argent Lakes Golf Course on hole 11 for 93 yards. She used a 6 iron. This event was witnessed by Judy McCormick and Doris Harris.
 
Carol McBride had a hole-in-one May 6 at Argent Lakes Golf Course on hole 66 for 91 yards. She used a 1 driver. This event was witnessed by Brian McBride, Dan McGuire and Cathy McGuire.

New Group Exercise Classes
Zumba: 9–9:55 a.m. Fridays beginning May 4 at Purrysburg Fitness Center. Taught by Victoria.
 
Buff Bones: 11–11:55 a.m. Wednesdays at Purrysburg Fitness Center. Instructor Mary Lou Bacik teaches Pilates, strength training, functional movement and therapeutic exercise based on research. This is a safe workout for those with osteoporosis or osteopenia. Class is limited to 15 participants. Sign up at Purrysburg Fitness Center or call (843) 705-4022.

It’s almost time to celebrate Sun City! Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy an out-of-this world concert by The Motowners, plus great food from food trucks and cold beer, wine and other drinks. Golf cart parking is suggested. There will be a free shuttle from Pinckney Hall. Gates and cash bar open at 5 p.m.; band starts at 6 p.m. Tickets are $8 per person.

The Sun City Softball Club will host the One Pitch Softball Tournament at 8:30 a.m. Friday, May 11 and 9 a.m. Saturday, May 12 at the Sun City Softball Field. All residents are welcome to attend. The Republicans of Sun City Hilton Head will host an event for Beaufort County Sheriff P.J. Tanner at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 24 at Pinckney Hall. Doors open at 2:30 p.m. All Sun City residents are invited to this event;

Memorial Weekend Military Softball Tournament
The Sun City Travel Softball Teams will host the Memorial Weekend Military Softball Tournament Saturday, May 26 at the Sun City Softball Field. All Sun City residents and friends are invited to attend. Free event with food available for purchase. Opening ceremonies begin at 9 a.m. and all proceeds will benefit the Parris Island and Hunter Army Air Field charities of choice.

Memorial Day Ceremony
The Sun City Veterans Association will put on the annual Memorial Day ceremony 9 a.m. Monday, May 28 at Magnolia Hall parking lot. Guest speaker U.S. Army Lt. Gen. (ret) Guy C. Swan III will discuss “On Behalf of a Grateful Nation.” The Sun City Color Guard, Bluffton JRTOC cadet marchers, Sun City Singers, Veterans Association marchers and more will perform. All Sun City residents are invited to attend.
