The Purrysburg indoor pool will be closed through Friday, April 27 for regularly scheduled maintenance. All water-based group exercise classes are canceled due to pool deck cleaning.

Work is almost complete on the Riverbend Spa refurbishment project, and the spa is estimated to reopen next week. The spa is currently closed during construction. Keep watching eNews Weekly for updates.

Managed Neighborhoods Buzz Line Returns
Beginning May 1, Villa, Cottage and Argent II residents will be able to get daily updates and notifications regarding landscaping schedules by calling the Managed Neighborhoods Buzz Line at (843) 645-4517. If you call and receive a signal other than a ringtone, the line is in use and you will need to call back to be connected. The Buzz Line will not accept voicemail messages. Email managed.neighborhoods@schhca.com with concerns or requests.

Annual Hurricane Seminar Coming Soon
10 a.m. Thursday, May 17 at Pinckney Hall
Hurricane season is right around the corner and now is the time to update your hurricane evacuation plan and get all the information you need to be prepared in the event of a hurricane. The Community Association presents this annual seminar to explain the Association’s role in the event of a hurricane evacuation. Topics include how the Association prepares and responds to a hurricane, rules regarding hurricane shutters, how to stay informed and what happens during a community closure and re-entry process.

Sign Up for Cinco De Mayo Tournament
Deadline to Sign Up: April 29
Join our fiesta at the Cinco de Mayo Tournament at Okatie Creek Golf Course Friday, May 4! The fun day will begin with a 1:30 p.m. shotgun start, followed by cocktails and dinner catered by Jameson’s Charhouse at 6 p.m. at the Lakehouse after play.

This is an 18-hole competitive four-person team event (two men and two ladies) and will be flighted at full handicap. Cost is $19 per person, which includes tournament fee and dinner. Golf plan rates apply to the price.

Get Golf Ready Returns For Spring
Get Golf Ready in Five Days returns with dates in May. If you have always wanted to play golf or to be reunited with the game in a beginner-friendly environment, this program is for you. The program consists of five 90-minute classes over a six-day period. Cost is $99 per person. So grab a golf buddy or just come by yourself and get golf ready!   • Canceled for the summer – Dance Fit: 4 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at Purrysburg Fitness Center with Stacey
  • Canceled for the summer – Pilates Plus: 1:30 p.m. Fridays at Purrysburg Fitness Center with Lois.

The following group exercise class times have changed:

  • Total Body Toning is now 8–8:55 a.m. Saturdays at Purrysburg Fitness Center with Lois.
  • Indoor Cycling is now 9:15–10:10 a.m. Saturdays at Purrysburg Fitness Center.

New Group Exercise Class: Buff Bones
11–11:55 a.m. Wednesdays beginning May 2 at Purrysburg Fitness Center
Instructor Mary Lou Bacik teaches Pilates, strength training, functional movement and therapeutic exercise based on research. This is a safe workout for those with osteoporosis or osteopenia. Class is limited to 15 participants. Sign up at Purrysburg Fitness Center or call (843) 705-4022.

Six-Week No Boundaries Boot Camp Class
8:30 a.m.–9:30 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Lakehouse
The first class starts at 8 a.m. Monday, April 30 at the Lakehouse
Get into shape just in time for summer! Personal Trainer John Hock will teach conditioning exercises, drills and fitness games to help kick start your fitness. Camaraderie and fighting spirit combine to get you genuine results. All classes are held outside. Fee is $99 for first-time participants; $79 for returning participants. Lowcountry Community Concert Band Presents Concert Band Pops from Stage and Screen
3 p.m. Sunday, April 29 at Magnolia Hall
Enjoy this free concert by the Lowcountry Community Concert Band, sponsored by the University of South Carolina Beaufort’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI). It will feature selections from The Phantom of the Opera, The Symphonic Gershwin, Shenandoah’s Simple Gifts and more.

Get Your Tickets to Mayfest Today!
5 p.m. Saturday, May 26 at the Lakehouse
It’s almost time to celebrate Sun City! Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy an out-of-this world concert by The Motowners, plus great food from food trucks and cold beer, wine and other drinks. Golf cart parking is suggested. There will be a free shuttle from Pinckney Hall. Gates and cash bar open at 5 p.m.; band starts at 6 p.m. Tickets are $8 per person.

Event for Beaufort County Sheriff Candidate JoJo Woodward
The Republicans of Sun City Hilton Head will host an event for Beaufort County Sheriff candidate JoJo Woodward at 3 p.m. Monday, April 30 at Hidden Cypress. Doors open at 2:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. This free event is open to all Sun City residents but tickets are required.

National Day of Prayer Hosted by Bible Study Club
Sun City residents and employees are welcome to join the Sun City Bible Study Club’s first National Day of Prayer event at 9 a.m. May 3 at Magnolia Hall. Sun City participants will join millions of others across America in recognizing God and praying for the country, state, and local leaders, as well as those who serve our country.

SCVA Collecting Old Flags for Disposal, Sundry Items for Troops
The Sun City Veterans Association (SCVA) will collect old U.S. flags for proper disposal 8 a.m.–4 p.m. Thursday, May 3 and Friday, May 4 in the Pinckney Hall lobby. New flags, flag poles and mounting brackets will be for sale. Cash and checks only. In addition, SCVA will collect sundry items for active duty troops in the Middle East. Requested items include toothpaste, toothbrushes, sunscreen, shaving items, lotion, deodorant, hand wipes, soap, shampoo, foot powder, white cotton socks and lip balm. The SCVA will pack and ship these items.

Kentucky Derby Party
All Sun City residents are invited to the Kentucky Derby party hosted by the Buckeye Group from 5:30–9 p.m. Saturday, May 5 at the Pavilion. There will be prizes for best hat, best dressed lady and best dressed gent. The Kentucky Derby will be broadcasted and The Chiggers will provide entertainment. Tickets are $9.
