Troon Presentation Available Online

On February 27, the senior executive team from Troon Golf along with Director of Golf Operations Charlie Kent hosted a Town Hall Meeting where they covered the status of new programming at the golf courses, a background and history of Troon, and the services and value Troon provides to the community. The presentation ended with a brief question-and-answer period.

Spa Refurbishment Updates
The Hidden Cypress Spa project is receiving final touch-ups with an opening date of Friday, March 2. Work begins Monday, March 5 on the Riverbend Spa refurbishment project, estimated to take approximately six weeks to complete. The spa will be closed during the work. Keep watching eNews Weekly for updates.

Tickets for the popular One Night In Memphis show scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Sunday, March 18 sold out following the production of the March issue of SunSations.

Look Out For Alligators
With the warmer weather, alligators have become more active. Be on the lookout for alligators moving from pond to pond and be aware of your surroundings, especially when walking your pet. Please remember that feeding alligators is illegal and dangerous, as it can lead to aggressive behavior. If you think you have an aggressive alligator on your property, call Common Area Maintenance at (843) 705-4061 during business hours or Security at (843) 705-4083 after hours.

Early Tee Times At Hidden Cypress and Okatie Creek 
To make up for recent inclement weather, Hidden Cypress and Okatie Creek golf courses will offer early tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, March 3 through Saturday, March 10 (excluding Monday, March 5).

SCTV Spectrum Channel To Change
Effective Tuesday, March 6, the Spectrum channel for SCTV will move to channel 1301. Spectrum, like other cable providers, will no longer broadcast in analog and is reassigning its analog channels, such as channel 5 for SCTV, to digital ones. Sunspots on channel 66 will move to channel 1302. Hargray customers can continue to watch SCTV on channel 238. SCTV is also available to watch online at this website by logging in and clicking the SCTV link on Resident Central.

Get Free Tax Prep With AARP Tax Aide

Get free tax preparation assistance right here in Sun City with the AARP Tax Aide program. Sessions last through April, right up until Tax Day. See below for March dates, and information sheets are available in Lifestyle Services. Sessions are in Pinckney Hall, and are first come, first served only; no appointments. Residents must bring last year's tax return and all pertinent forms to the appointment. Send all questions and inquiries to suncityAARP@gmail.com. No phone calls, please.

Chelsea Reservations Password Change Requirement
Chelsea Reservations is making a security update on March 12 for the entire system that requires all golfers to update their password to protect their private information. Please follow the instructions below to change your password:

  1. Log on and enter your password as you currently do.
  2. Then go into “My Profile.”
  3. Update your password with these new requirements:
    1. Must be six to 12 characters long.
    2. Have at least one uppercase letter.
    3. Have at least one number.
  4.  Hit “Save.”

Sign Up For St. Patrick's Day Four-Person Scramble
1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 17 at Hidden Cypress Golf Course
Wear green and celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with golf and an Irish dinner catered by award-winning Downtown Catering of Bluffton. The tournament begins at 1:30 p.m. with a shotgun start and dinner to follow. Cost of $30 per person includes dinner and the tournament fee. The dinner menu includes traditional Irish corned beef and cabbage, redskin boiled potatoes, garden salad, dinner rolls and Irish brownies.

Get Golf Ready Returns For Spring
Get Golf Ready in Five Days returns with dates in March, April and May. If you have always wanted to play golf or to be reunited with the game in a beginner-friendly environment, this program is for you. Michael Binazeski had a hole-in-one February 19 at Argent Lakes Golf Course on hole 14 for 147 yards. He used a driver. This event was witnessed by Pete Binazeski and Erica Binazeski.
 
Pete Binazeski had a hole-in-one February 20 at Argent Lakes Golf Course on hole 5 for 115 yards. He used a 7 iron. This event was witnessed by Michael Binazeski, Erica Binazeski and Jim Beigh.
 
Phil Boyle had a hole-in-one February 22 at Okatie Creek Golf Course on hole 3 for 120 yards. He used an 8 iron. This event was witnessed by Jim Sheerer, Gerry Whalen and Larry Trent.
 
Marily Teeter had a hole-in-one February 22 at Argent Lakes Golf Course on hole 3 for 107 yards. She used a 6 hybrid. This event was witnessed by Lanie Drake and Harriet Schwartz.

  • Effective Friday, March 2, Keegan’s Delay the Disease/Parkinson’s group exercise class will be held 1–2 p.m. Fridays and 2–3 p.m. Wednesdays at Hidden Cypress Ballroom. This class is complimentary.
  • Effective Saturday, March 3, Martha’s Therapeutic Yoga class will be 12:30 – 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays at Purrysburg Fitness Center. This class is complimentary.
  • Effective Monday, March 5, Keegan’s Isometric Strength Training class will move to 1:30–2:25 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at Purrysburg Fitness Center beginning Tuesday, March 6.

Learn simple self-treatments you can do at home to remain active, healthy and pain-free for life. Join Sun City resident and MELT Instructor Jan Berson to learn how to eliminate stuck stress, chronic aches, pains, and unwanted signs of aging using specialized techniques, a soft body roller and four different balls. All classes meet in Pinckney Hall, Chechessee River Room. Participants must be able to get up and down from the floor without assistance. Bring a yoga mat; all MELT props provided. During these conversations, explore ways to become more compassionate by integrating kindness, forgiveness, gratitude and play into our lives. Discuss and search for ways to find the delicate balance between nurturing ourselves and caring empathically for others. Becoming more compassionate allows us to live more deeply, experience meaningful relationships, find more joy and happiness, and embrace diversity. Room Reservation Specialist Judy Conningham is available to meet with residents, clubs and groups to discuss their reservation requirements by scheduling appointments during the hours of 9 a.m.–1 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
  • Please email Judy at Judy.Conningham@schhca.com to schedule an appointment. Include your name, topic, affiliation and desired time.
  • All room requests must be submitted on the appropriate Room Request Form and brought to the Lifestyle Services office prior to scheduling an appointment.
  • Appointments are 15-30 minutes long and should only be scheduled for meetings or events occurring within the next six weeks.
  • Please email Judy with any other room reservation concerns.

Girl Scout Cookie Sale
Friends of the Girl Scouts will be selling Girl Scout Cookies from 9 a.m.–6 p.m. Tuesday, March 6 at Pinckney Hall. Buy a box for yourself, a neighbor or those serving in the U.S. military. Boxes are $4 each for Thin Mints, Samoas, Trefoils, Savannah Smiles, Tagalongs and Do-Si-Dos; $5.50 for the S'mores and gluten-free Toffee-Tastic. Softball Club Spring Season Opening Days
The Tuesday/Thursday League opens its spring season Thursday, March 8. Opening ceremonies begin at 8:10 a.m. followed by the first of six games beginning at 8:45 a.m. Lt. Gov. Kevin Bryant will throw out the first pitch. It will be hot dog day, and every Tuesday after that is hot dog day, which is open to all residents and guests.
The Coed League gets underway at 8 a.m. Saturday, March 10. Opening ceremonies include team introductions and the National Anthem. The first of five games begins at 8:30 a.m. The Coed opening day will feature hot dog day for the first time in Coed League history. All are welcome.

Sun City Lagoon Fishing Seminar
Learn all about fishing in Sun City’s lagoons at a free seminar hosted by the Fishing & Hunting Club at 9 a.m. Friday, March 16 at Lake Somerset Dock. Experienced Sun City anglers will lead a discussion about what tackle, bait and lures to use for difference game fish. Learn which lagoons are best for fishing.
