Welcome, JC!

The Community Association welcomed Juan Carlos "JC" Carranza to the property this week as the new Director of Operations of Lifestyles and Health and Wellness. JC has a background in food and beverage and hospitality management, having prior positions with Marriott Hotels, Margaritaville Hotels, Donald Ross’s Timuguana Country Club in Jacksonville, and Troon Golf and Hospitality. The Association, Board of Directors and JC are looking forward to working together to enhance the lifestyle opportunities in the community.

Stop signs have been installed at the intersection of Landing Lane and Bayberry Drive to create a three-way stop. Please be alert and use caution when approaching the intersection.

Spa Refurbishment Updates
The Hidden Cypress Spa project is on schedule and on budget. The spa is expected to re-open late next week. Upon completion of the Hidden Cypress Spa refurbishment, work will begin on the Riverbend Spa. The Riverbend Spa refurbishment project is estimated to take approximately six weeks to complete. The March issue of SunSations is now available to read online at this website! Just log in and click the SunSations logo on Resident Central to start reading. Watch your mailbox for a hard copy of the March issue, which will be delivered by the U.S. Postal Service. Welcome spring with the newest issue of SunSations, with information about the annual Home & Garden Expo and how to prep for your spring home improvement project. Learn all about SCTV’s new programming and then read about a new Golf program that could help your game. As always, this issue features plenty of fun and inspiring stories about your neighbors. SCTV Spectrum Channel To Change
Effective Tuesday, March 6, the Spectrum channel for SCTV will move to channel 1301. Spectrum, like other cable providers, will no longer broadcast in analog and is reassigning its analog channels, such as channel 5 for SCTV, to digital ones. Sunspots on channel 66 will move to channel 1302. Hargray customers can continue to watch SCTV on channel 238. SCTV is also available to watch online at this website by logging in and clicking the SCTV link on Resident Central.

Sun City TV Debuts New Shows and Lineup
Sun City residents aren’t the only ones preparing for spring cleaning projects. Sun City TV is revamping its lineup of television shows and programs to bring the community more entertainment in 2018! With the debut of new shows The Breeze, Healthy Eating with Leslie and In Our Neighborhoods, residents will have more exciting programs and 24 hours of content. The new lineup begins Monday, February 26. Watch SCTV on Hargray channel 238, Spectrum channel 5 (channel 1301 beginning March 6) or streaming at this website. Handicap Fees Due This Month
Okatie Creek Golf Shop will accept 2018 GHIN handicap fees through Wednesday, February 28. The $22 fee can be paid by club charge, credit card or cash. If you are out of town, please call the golf shop at (843) 705-4653 to pay by club charge. Those who have not paid by March 1 will be deactivated.

South Carolina Ballet Presents A Midsummer Night's Dream

7 p.m. Tuesday, February 27 at Magnolia Hall
Shakespeare’s playful, romantic comedy comes to life on stage in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Full of memorable characters, twists of fate and one potent love potion, A Midsummer Night’s Dream is always a crowd pleaser.

Group Exercise Class Schedule Changes

  • Effective Friday, March 2, Keegan’s Delay the Disease/Parkinson’s group exercise class will be held 1–1:55 p.m. Fridays and 2–2:55 p.m. Wednesdays at Hidden Cypress Ballroom.
  • Effective Monday, March 5, Keegan’s Isometric Strength Training class will move to 1:30–2:25 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at Purrysburg Fitness Center beginning Tuesday, March 6.

8:30 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday February 26-April 6 at the Lakehouse
Get into shape for spring! Join personal trainer John Hock in this outdoor boot camp training with conditioning exercises, fitness drills, fitness games and plenty of team spirit. Boot camp graduates not only lose weight, get stronger and increase overall physical health, they develop mentally and become more disciplined. Learn simple self-treatments you can do at home to remain active, healthy and pain-free for life. Join Sun City resident and MELT Instructor Jan Berson to learn how to eliminate stuck stress, chronic aches, pains, and unwanted signs of aging using specialized techniques, a soft body roller and four different balls. All classes meet in Pinckney Hall, Chechessee River Room. Participants must be able to get up and down from the floor without assistance. Bring a yoga mat; all MELT props provided. Conversations About Compassion Workshop with Judy Owen

During these conversations, explore ways to become more compassionate by integrating kindness, forgiveness, gratitude and play into our lives. Discuss and search for ways to find the delicate balance between nurturing ourselves and caring empathically for others. Becoming more compassionate allows us to live more deeply, experience meaningful relationships, find more joy and happiness, and embrace diversity.
