Residents are reminded to participate in the Troon Golf online survey before it closes Friday, December 9. Please fill out the brief online survey by clicking here. Through resident responses, Troon hopes to better understand your thoughts on the golf amenities at Sun City Hilton Head.  

   
Nature Trail Update 
Facilities Management has received the engineer’s report regarding damages at the Nature Trail as a result of Hurricane Matthew. Based on this report, the project was sent out for bid.  Three contractors have submitted bids and work is expected to begin before Christmas if the contractor and materials are available. There is currently no estimated completion date for the repairs. Your patience is appreciated as teams continue to repair the Nature Trail following the hurricane.

Landau, who won America’s hearts and the $1 million grand prize on America’s Got Talent, will be joined by special guest Maiya Sykes from NBC TV’s The Voice and Postmodern Jukebox for an evening of Sinatra-style holiday hits and classics from the Great American Songbook, as well as a special salute to Motown.

A hard copy of the Schedule of Fees and Community Rules will be delivered with the February 2017 issue of SunSations.
 
The Schedule of Fees has information about how to pay your assessments, charges for community activities, and the 2017 budget and assessments, which were approved at the Annual Meeting of the Membership on November 16. The Community Rules, one of the three sets of governing documents, outlines the regulations that protect the high quality of living at Sun City Hilton Head.

There will be no Golf Advisory Committee meeting in December. Check the GAC’s article in the Board Appointed Committee section of SunSations for updates.
 
The Modifications Committee will not meet Tuesday, December 20 or Tuesday, December 27. Modification applications that require committee approval must be submitted by noon the Friday prior to the Tuesday meeting date.

2017 Funny Business Ticket Sales

You spoke, we listened! Here are a few changes coming to Funny Business in 2017:

  • Tuesday Funny Business shows in Magnolia Hall will start at 7 p.m. beginning in January.
  • Funny Business tickets for 2017 will go on sale the first business day of the month prior to the event date. They will no longer be sold quarterly. January Funny Business tickets are now on sale online and at Lifestyle Services. Member charges are now accepted for ticket purchases at Lifestyle Services.

Sun City 101 Changes for 2017
There are two more Sun City 101 sessions in 2016 at 10 a.m. Mondays, December 12 and 19 in Pinckney Hall. Reserve your seat before these sessions are full! Then, Sun City 101 is moving to Wednesdays in 2017 and will meet twice a month. Upcoming dates are January 11 and 25; February 8 and 22; March 8 and 22; April 12 and 26; and May 10 and 24. Golf Tournament Credits

Golf tournament credits won between January 1 and November 30, 2016 must be spent before December 31. Any golf tournament credits won in December 2016 will carry over to 2017, and those credits will be entered into the credit books the first week of January 2017.

Pay Beaufort County Taxes in Pinckney Hall

9:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 13 and 20 in Pinckney Hall

Beaufort County Treasurer’s Office representatives will accept property tax payments from residents who live in Beaufort County. Residents will be able to pay current and delinquent taxes on all property types, make redemption payments, make installment payments, apply for an installment program and submit address changes. Tax adjustments cannot be performed on-site.

Holiday Office Hours
Community Association offices will be closed Friday, December 23 and Monday, December 26 in observance of Christmas. Group exercise classes are canceled December 23, 24 and 26. Offices will be closed Monday, January 2 in observance of New Year’s Day. 
 
 

Common Area Maintenance

Residents can use the Mulching Center, located on Red Dam Road next to the Golf Maintenance Yard, to dispose their yard debris and green waste. The center is open from 7 a.m.–7 p.m. every day. Access to the center is monitored by security cameras, and residents must use their activity cards to gain entrance.

  Superintendent's Revenge Rescheduled for Dec. 13
The Superintendent’s Revenge Golf Tournament, originally scheduled for December 6, has been rescheduled due to rain. The tournament will now begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Tuesday, December 13 at Argent Lakes and Hidden Cypress golf clubs. There will be a ceremony following the tournament at the Pavilion.
 
The entry fee is $20 plus regular golf fees at check-in. If your team is unable to play or you are in need of a substitute player, contact Matt Edlin at (843) 705-4059 or
Matt.Edlin@schhca.com with the information. Each player is encouraged to bring a new unwrapped toy or book for a child ages 1-12 years old as a donation (please no electronics).

Bob Dadich had a hole-in-one November 26 at Hidden Cypress Golf Course on hole 12 for 138 yards. He used a 5 hybrid. This event was witnessed by Jim Kerr, Bruce Rosenthal and Tom Molinari.
 
Bob Halstead had a hole-in-one November 29 at Okatie Creek Golf Course on hole 12 for 125 yards. He used a 6 iron. This event was witnessed by Mike Burrow and Leigh Jaques.
 
Bob Henderson had a hole-in-one December 3 at Okatie Creek Golf Course on hole 3 for 120 yards. He used a pitching wedge. This event was witnessed by Ken Shaw, Jim Engler and John Ryan.

A New Year, A New You - Mission: Slimpossible 2017
Six weeks to a better, healthier you begins in January 2017! Registration is now open for Mission: Slimpossible, a weight management and exercise program. Start your New Year off working with others to create new habits of eating less and exercising more. During the six weeks, class members will be given an unlimited class pass to take any group exercise class at no extra charge. Participants with the most percentage weight loss could win cash prizes! The challenge begins January 11, 2017 and ends February 17, 2017. Classes will be held at the Lakehouse Ballroom every Wednesday and Friday. Cost is $99. Sign up at the Lakehouse Fitness Center. Outdoor Fitness Bootcamp

Join personal trainer John Hock in this outdoor bootcamp with conditioning exercises, fitness drills, fitness games and team spirit. Bootcamp graduates not only lose weight, get stronger and increase overall physical health, they develop mentally and become more disciplined. Cost for first time participants is $99. Revamped Meet The Author Begins in January

2017 Funny Business Ticket Sales

You spoke, we listened! Here are a few changes coming to Funny Business in 2017:

  • Tuesday Funny Business shows in Magnolia Hall will start at 7 p.m. beginning in January.
  • Funny Business tickets for 2017 will go on sale the first business day of the month prior to the event date. They will no longer be sold quarterly. January Funny Business tickets are now on sale online and at Lifestyle Services. Member charges are now accepted for ticket purchases at Lifestyle Services.

Sun City ROMEO meets at 7:30 a.m. the first and third Wednesday of each month at the Clubhouse at Okatie Creek. No membership dues. The Bird Club invites residents to join the Backyard Bird Count Friday, December 16. The annual Christmas Bird Count, in association with the National Audubon Society, is the longest running citizen science project in the world, and the data is used for research on various topics, including climate change.  All Sun City residents are welcome to assist during the morning of the count, even if it’s just from your backyard birdfeeder! If you interested, contact Paula Smith by Friday, December 9 at pbsmith8558@aol.com or 705-2342.

Celebrate the holidays with family and friends at Sun City restaurants. Jameson’s Charhouse will be open from noon–7 p.m. Christmas Day serving a plated holiday dinner. The Clubhouse at Okatie Creek will be closed on Christmas Day. Gifts cards are available and can be used at both locations.
