Annual Meeting of the Membership
1 p.m. Wednesday, November 14 at Magnolia Hall
This meeting will include a presentation and recommendation from the Finance Committee of the 2019 Budget and Annual Homeowner Assessment, as well as a vote on the Revenue Ruling 70-604, which deals with how the “Excess Membership Income” is handled for the 2018 income tax return. The results of the Community Election will also be announced.

Residents are invited to the next Chat with the Board session to talk with one or more members of the Board of Directors. Residents may ask questions about Sun City governance, policies or just discuss what is on their minds.

Neighborhood Elections 2018: Voting Ends Nov. 9
The voting period for this year’s Neighborhood Elections ends tomorrow, Friday, November 9. Only residents living in the 27 voting neighborhoods are eligible to participate in this year’s community election.

To vote, residents must log into the election website provided via email or mailed letter before 11:59 p.m. Friday, November 9. You must use your election username and password to access the voting website.
 
Voting kiosks will also be available from 8 a.m.–5 p.m. tomorrow, Friday, November 9 in Pinckney Hall. You must bring your election username and password with you.
 
Please remember your vote counts! Each neighborhood election is required to meet a 20 percent quorum in order for it to be valid. Results will be announced at the Annual Meeting of the Membership at 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 14 at Magnolia Hall.

Golf Town Hall Meeting

Purrysburg Fitness Center Renovations
Purrysburg Fitness Center is closed for renovations throughout November. The improvements will include new ceilings, a remodeled front desk, new paint and new flooring coverings.
  • The fitness center area and aerobics room are closed during the renovation.
  • The locker rooms, and indoor and outdoor pools will remain open. You may access the pools from the outside pool gates and back indoor pool doors. Front desk operation will be relocated to the Logo Building temporarily.
  • Indoor pool classes will remain in effect, and check-in for water classes will be at the back door of the indoor pool.

Group Exercise Classes During Purrysburg Renovation
Group exercise class schedules have been revised as a result of the renovations at Purrysburg Fitness Center.

Thanksgiving Closures
Community Association offices will be closed Thursday, November 22 and Friday, November 23 in observance of Thanksgiving. There will be no eNews Weekly delivered on November 22 and there will be no The Week Ahead delivered Monday, November 26.
 
Lakehouse and Hidden Cypress fitness centers will be open 8 a.m.–2 p.m. Thursday, November 22. The Logo Building will be open 7 a.m.–noon. Guest fees are waived at Sun City fitness centers November 22–25.

Project Updates from Common Area Maintenance and Facilities Services
  • The Lakehouse indoor pool is closed for service and chemical balancing. It will reopen tomorrow, Friday, November 9.
  • Tennis court 1 at Town Square is closed for construction on new path areas and seating. Residents are asked to park behind court 5.
  • Road work continues throughout the community. Please use caution when driving in these areas.
  • Please refrain from fishing in lagoon L-36 at Sun City Boulevard and Hampton Place, located in Hampton Village. Fishing is prohibited in this lagoon while it is treated for an invasive weed. This will help control the issue and prevent it from spreading to other lagoons.

SunSations Double Issue Coming Soon
The tradition of a double issue of SunSations continues! The December 2018/January 2019 combined issue will be available to read online beginning Monday, November 19. Be on the lookout for a hard copy in your mailbox later in the month. Be sure to hold on to this issue as it includes three months of events and programming in Sun City. There will be no January issue of the magazine delivered. The next issue will be the February 2019 issue.

Staff vs. Sun City Softball Showdown
See who takes the title in the inaugural Staff vs. Sun City Softball Showdown! Come pull for your Community Association staff or friends in the Sun City Softball Club at this fun softball showdown starting at 11:30 a.m. Friday, November 16 at the Softball Field.

Sign Up For New Four-Week Fitness Boot Camp
8:30 a.m.–9:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays starting at 8 a.m. November 26
Lakehouse, grassy area outside pool
Get into shape for the new year! Join this outdoor boot camp with conditioning exercises, fitness drills, fitness games and plenty of team spirit. Boot camp graduates not only lose weight, get stronger and increase overall physical health, but all participants develop mentally and become more disciplined. Fitness Boot Camp succeeds where others fail. It is all about motivation, not intimidation, and lots of fun. Taught by personal trainer John Hock. Sign up at Lakehouse Fitness Center at (843) 645-4515. Space is limited. Fee: $65. Returning bootcampers: $55.

Club and Group Special Events
Veterans Day Ceremony
The Sun City Veterans Association will host the annual Veterans Day Ceremony at 10 a.m. November 10 at Magnolia Hall. Army Lt. Col. Ken Dwyer will speak on the Common Brotherhood of Service. The Sun City Color Guard, Bluffton JROTC cadet marchers, Sun City Singers, Sun City Veterans Association marchers and more will perform. All Sun City residents are invited to this free event.

U.S. Flag Collection and Sale
The Sun City Veterans Association will collect old U.S. flags for proper disposal and sell new U.S. flags, poles and house brackets from 9 a.m.–4 p.m. November 15 and 16 in the Pinckney Hall lobby. Cash and checks accepted. No credit cards please.

Town Square Upbeats Toys for Tots Dinner and Dance
The Town Square Upbeats’ annual Toys for Tots Dinner and Dance will be 6–10 p.m. Saturday, December 1 at the Pinckney Hall Ballroom. Dinner will be catered by Golden Corral and music provided by Target the Band. U.S. Marines will be in attendance. BYOB. Tickets are $30 each, plus one new unwrapped toy. Tickets are available beginning Friday, November 2 at the club’s weekly meetings from 4–6 p.m. at Pinckney Hall. Limited number of seats available. Call Ed Martin at 368-1460 for more information. This event is open to the public.
