The Salvation Army Angel Tree in Palmetto Commons
Community Standards has partnered with The Salvation Army to provide an Angel Tree in Palmetto Commons this holiday season. The tree will be available in Palmetto Commons through December 14, decorated with wish lists from local children. The lists will include the child’s name, age, gender and clothing size. Residents are welcome to “adopt” a child by picking out a card. A minimum total of $30 is requested to be spent on at least three gifts, if possible. Gifts may be dropped off in Palmetto Commons by December 15. They are not to be wrapped, but should be placed in a labeled gift bag or plastic bag.

Daily Door Prizes at Palmetto Commons
Eight lucky residents who visit Palmetto Commons November 30 through December 31 will snag free Sun City swag! Residents who visit Palmetto Commons on business with the Community Association will sign in as normal at the front desk. Each evening prior to the day of business, staff will choose eight numbers at random from the sign-in sheet. The winners will be notified immediately when they sign in and will get to draw for their prize they will receive.

Watch Your Inbox For Tech Updates
Technology at Sun City Hilton Head is getting a major upgrade in 2019! Beginning in December, the Community Association will send regular updates about the conversion to keep you informed of what’s changing and how it impacts your lifestyle. Keep watching your inbox for these emails as they will help you navigate through the transition to new software and procedures. Emails marked “Action Required” will include steps you’ll need to take to prepare for the conversion. The Association looks forward to collaborating with you as together we enter an exciting new chapter for the community.

January Events Go On Sale Dec. 3
Tickets for all January events and Disco Fever go on sale online at this website and at Lifestyle Services at 8 a.m. Monday, December 3 in Pinckney Hall. Get your tickets early for Disco Fever, appearing at Magnolia Hall for two shows Feb. 11. LavaLamp, a ’70s band, will provide the perfect boogie tunes. Other exciting tickets going on sale include the Cold Spring Harbor Band, a Billy Joel tribute, the next Dance Series performance with Cloud 9, and an appearance by jazz singer Bobby Brooks Wilson.

Countdown to the Holidays Events
Come help your neighbors “Countdown to the Holidays” with the Chartered Clubs and staff gingerbread contest and tree lighting from 4–6 p.m. December 5 at the Pavilion. Festivities continue as Sun City’s neighborhoods battle it out in a chili cook-off 11 a.m.–1 p.m. December 6 at the Pavilion. Residents are invited to stop by, taste the chili and vote for the best dish. SunSations Double Issue Coming Soon
The tradition of a double issue of SunSations continues! The December 2018/January 2019 combined issue is now available to read online. Be on the lookout for a hard copy in your mailbox beginning this week. Be sure to hold on to this issue as it includes three months of events and programming in Sun City. There will be no January issue of the magazine delivered. The next issue will be the February 2019 issue.

Project Updates from Facilities Services and Common Area Maintenance
  • The Dog Park will be closed Wednesday, December 5 for maintenance. The Woodshop entry to the Dog Park will be closed December 6–19. The softball field side entry to the Dog Park will be closed December 20–January 4.
  • Lagoon L-36 at Sun City Boulevard and Hampton Place is now reopened for fishing on the common area side only.
  • Purrysburg Fitness Center and aerobics room are closed for renovations. The locker rooms and pools remain open.
  • Tennis court 1 at Town Square is closed for construction on new path areas and seating.

Sun City Chorus and Concert Band Presents Holiday Encores
Holiday Encores celebrates 20 years of a Sun City holiday tradition with more than 100 singers and musicians performing. Performances are 7 p.m. November 29-December 1 and 2:30 p.m. December 2 at Magnolia Hall. Tickets are $24 at the Magnolia Hall Box Office, open 9–11 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Town Square Upbeats Toys for Tots Dinner and Dance
The Town Square Upbeats’ annual Toys for Tots Dinner and Dance will be 6–10 p.m. Saturday, December 1 at the Pinckney Hall Ballroom. Dinner will be catered by Golden Corral and music provided by Target the Band. U.S. Marines will be in attendance. BYOB. Tickets are $30 each, plus one new unwrapped toy. Limited number of seats available. Call Ed Martin at 368-1460 for more information. This event is open to the public.


Ticket Sales for New Evolution Big Band Benefit Concert
The Sun City Lions Club will present its annual benefit event with a performance by the New Evolution Big Band at 7 p.m. Friday, March 1 at Magnolia Hall. Tickets are $25, available for purchase beginning December 1. Contact Judy Cullen at

ROMEO Hosts Doug Jones and Tonja Flanagan
The Sun City ROMEOs will host Executive Director Doug Jones and Board of Directors President Tonja Flanagan at its next meeting at 7 a.m. Wednesday, December 5 at The Clubhouse at Okatie Creek. Doug will discuss ongoing and planned capital projects and Tonja will share information about the community’s expansion plans.
