Thanksgiving Closures
Community Association offices will be closed Thursday, November 22 and Friday, November 23 in observance of Thanksgiving. There will be no eNews Weekly delivered on November 22 and there will be no The Week Ahead delivered Monday, November 26.
 
Lakehouse and Hidden Cypress fitness centers will be open 8 a.m.–2 p.m. Thursday, November 22. The Logo Building will be open 7 a.m.–noon. Guest fees are waived at Sun City fitness centers November 22–25.

Sign Up For This Year's Superintendent's Revenge
It’s time for Sun City’s favorite golf tournament with a twist as residents tackle unique surprises on Hidden Cypress and Argent Lakes golf courses while benefitting local kids in need. The 2019 Superintendent’s Revenge will begin with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 4 at Hidden Cypress and Argent Lake golf courses. Registration is open from 8 a.m. Friday, November 16 through noon Wednesday, November 28. Residents must sign up as a four-person team at www.golfgenius.com under Sun City Golf Events. Teams will be chosen via lottery. Players are asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy for a child ages 1-12 years old as a donation to Bluffton Self Help. Click here for more information.

SunSations Double Issue Coming Soon
The tradition of a double issue of SunSations continues! The December 2018/January 2019 combined issue will be available to read online beginning Monday, November 19. Be on the lookout for a hard copy in your mailbox later in the month. Be sure to hold on to this issue as it includes three months of events and programming in Sun City. There will be no January issue of the magazine delivered. The next issue will be the February 2019 issue.

The Salvation Army Angel Tree in Palmetto Commons
Community Standards has partnered with The Salvation Army to provide an Angel Tree in Palmetto Commons this holiday season. The tree will be available in Palmetto Commons November 26-December 14, decorated with wish lists from local children. The lists will include the child’s name, age, gender and clothing size. Residents are welcome to “adopt” a child by picking out a card. A minimum total of $30 is requested to be spent on at least three gifts, if possible. Gifts may be dropped off in Palmetto Commons by December 15. They do not have to be wrapped, but should be placed in a labeled gift bag or plastic bag.

Project Updates from Facilities Services and Common Area Maintenance
  • Pool heaters have been installed at the Lakehouse outdoor pool. The pool is expected to reach temperature and open for use Friday, November 16.
  • The gate at Lake Somerset will be closed from 8 a.m.–noon Sunday, November 18 while the county works on the road.
  • Tennis court 1 at Town Square is closed for construction on new path areas and seating.

Purrysburg Fitness Center Renovations
Purrysburg Fitness Center is closed for renovations throughout November. The improvements will include new ceilings, a remodeled front desk, new paint and new flooring coverings.
  • The fitness center area and aerobics room are closed during the renovation.
  • The locker rooms, and indoor and outdoor pools will remain open. You may access the pools from the outside pool gates and back indoor pool doors. Front desk operation will be relocated to the Logo Building temporarily.
  • Indoor pool classes will remain in effect, and check-in for water classes will be at the back door of the indoor pool.

Who Won Sun City's English Invasion Battle?
They battled on stage, you voted for your favorite! Tributes to The Beatles and The Rolling Stones performed in one epic show Tuesday and Wednesday nights, and you selected which one came out on top. The Beatles won both nights, with 318 votes from Tuesday’s show and 324 votes from Wednesday’s show.

Argent Lakes Reopening Soon
Another food and drink option is coming to Sun City in 2019! The Community Association is preparing to reopen the Argent Lakes Café to serve light snacks and beverages. Details will be included in eNews Weekly as more information is available.

Club and Group Special Events
U.S. Flag Collection and Sale
The Sun City Veterans Association will collect old U.S. flags for proper disposal and sell new U.S. flags, poles and house brackets from 9 a.m.–4 p.m. November 16 in the Pinckney Hall lobby. Cash and checks accepted. No credit cards please.

Sun City Chorus and Concert Band Presents Holiday Encores
Holiday Encores celebrates 20 years of a Sun City holiday tradition with more than 100 singers and musicians performing. Performances are 7 p.m. November 29-December 1 and 2:30 p.m. December 2 at Magnolia Hall. Tickets are $24 at the Magnolia Hall Box Office, open 9–11 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. You may also call (843) 227-4110 to purchase tickets.

Town Square Upbeats Toys for Tots Dinner and Dance
The Town Square Upbeats’ annual Toys for Tots Dinner and Dance will be 6–10 p.m. Saturday, December 1 at the Pinckney Hall Ballroom. Dinner will be catered by Golden Corral and music provided by Target the Band. U.S. Marines will be in attendance. BYOB. Tickets are $30 each, plus one new unwrapped toy. Limited number of seats available. Call Ed Martin at 368-1460 for more information. This event is open to the public.
