 Notice of Annual Meeting
The Annual Membership Meeting is at 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 14 at Magnolia Hall. This meeting will include a presentation and recommendation from the Finance Committee of the 2019 Budget and Annual Homeowner Assessment, as well as a vote on the Revenue Ruling 70-604, which deals with how the “Excess Membership Income” is handled for the 2018 income tax return. The results of the Community Election will also be announced.

Hidden Cypress Pool Closure and Pool Furniture Giveaway
Hidden Cypress Pool will be closed Friday, November 2 until 1 p.m. as Facilities installs new pool furniture.
 
Beginning at 8 a.m. Friday, November 2, Facilities will give away the old pool furniture from Hidden Cypress. Each Sun City household will be permitted to take two items from the existing furniture. These items will be placed in the parking lot and a member of Facilities will sign you in. There will be no line before 8 a.m. and saving furniture will not be permitted. You must be able to transfer the furniture on your own. No assistance will be provided.
 
If there is any furniture remaining after 11 a.m., residents will be allowed to return for more. The current condition of this furniture is fair. They are at the end of their life cycle for mass usage. There is a limited quantity available.

Neighborhood Elections 2018: Paper Ballots Due Nov. 2, Voting Starts Nov. 5
Residents in 27 neighborhoods will participate in this year’s annual election to vote for their Neighborhood Representatives (NR) and/or Alternate Neighborhood Representatives (ANR).

Residents who do not have an email on file with the Community Association or an undeliverable email address have received both a paper ballot and instructions to vote online.
 
Any resident wanting to vote using the paper ballot must return it to the election company (in the envelope provided) with a postmark of November 2 using their own postage. Or, paper ballots can be dropped off at Palmetto Commons by noon, Friday, November 2.
 
The electronic voting period begins Monday, November 5 and runs through Friday, November 9. Please log into the election website provided to you. You must use your election username and password to access the voting website.
 
Additionally, kiosks will be open for voting from 8 a.m.–5 p.m. November 8 and 9 in Pinckney Hall. You must bring your election username and password with you.
 
Please remember your vote counts! Each neighborhood election is required to meet a 20 percent quorum in order for it to be valid.

The Lakehouse outdoor pool is getting even better! Heaters are currently being installed at the pool and are expected to be open in the next week. Another amenity to enjoy this winter!

Sign Up for Upcoming Golf Course Nature Tours
Get a new perspective of Sun City’s golf courses on a Golf Course Nature Tour. All residents are welcome to sign up. Tours are by golf cart; please drive your own, if possible. Children are permitted as long as they are accompanied by a grandparent or parent and they must ride in the guardian’s golf cart. Each tour is two hours or less and involves minimal walking. Please bring a snack, binoculars and a camera. Register at Lifestyle Services in Pinckney Hall. Please do not call the golf pro shops for information or to register. Upcoming Nature Tour Dates:

Polling Places in Sun City
Local elections are Tuesday, November 6, and several Sun City amenities are used as polling locations. At 5:30 p.m. November 5, Hidden Cypress Ballroom, Pinckney Hall Ballroom and Magnolia Hall will close to prepare for elections. The Lakehouse Ballroom, Hidden Cypress Ballroom, Pinckney Hall Ballroom and Magnolia Hall will closed November 6 for elections.

Additional Pine Straw Sign Up Available
Additional pine straw sign up is available in Palmetto Commons at the front desk for non-developer installed beds only. Additional pine straw order will be delivered, installed and invoiced to the resident by Summit Landscape Group after the contract straw is installation is completed.

Fishing Temporarily Prohibited in Lagoon L-36
Please refrain from fishing in lagoon L-36 at Sun City Boulevard and Hampton Place, located in Hampton Village. Fishing is prohibited in this lagoon while it is treated for an invasive weed. This will help control the issue and prevent it from spreading to other lagoons.

New Four-Week  Fitness Boot Camp
8:30 a.m.–9:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays starting at 8 a.m. November 26
Lakehouse, grassy area outside pool
Get into shape for the new year! Join this outdoor boot camp with conditioning exercises, fitness drills, fitness games and plenty of team spirit. Boot camp graduates not only lose weight, get stronger and increase overall physical health, but all participants develop mentally and become more disciplined. Fitness Boot Camp succeeds where others fail. It is all about motivation, not intimidation, and lots of fun. Taught by personal trainer John Hock. Sign up at Lakehouse Fitness Center at (843) 645-4515. Space is limited. Fee: $65. Returning bootcampers: $55.

Due to its popularity, Train the Brain will now meet an extra day every week at 3 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays at Purrysburg Fitness Center. Join fitness instructor Stacey Oshrin and learn how to train your brain!

Café-Style Conversations on Compassion
6–8 p.m. Tuesday, November 13 at Riverbend with instructor Judy Owen
In this two-hour, café-style conversation, participants will discover what compassion means. Join guided, round-table discussions exploring perspectives of compassion such as self, family, diversity and ecology. Topics will consider how to integrate kindness, forgiveness, gratitude, and play into our ability to be compassionate. Register at any fitness center; fee, $20.

Ticket Sales for Tito Puente, Jr.
Tickets to see Tito Puente, Jr. go on sale at 8 a.m. Monday, November 5 at the Lifestyle Services desk in Pinckney Hall. The son of the Mambo King is keeping his father’s legacy alive as he kicks off the New Year in Sun City. The show is 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Magnolia Hall. Tickets are $35, available at Lifestyle Services only (limit four tickets per household). There are no online ticket sales for this show.

Buckeye Group Hosts Annual Pancake Breakfast
The Buckeye Group invites all residents to its annual pancake breakfast and silent auction fundraiser benefitting The Independence Fund. The event is 8 a.m.–noon, Saturday, November 3 at the Pavilion. A breakfast of pancakes and bacon will be served for a donation. Silent auction bidding is 8:15–11:15 a.m. Residents can meet current members of the U.S. Marine Corps and Sen. Tom Davis. Door prizes will be awarded and Ken Kolbe will perform music by Neil Diamond. SCCT Presents Tony Award-Winning Morning's at Seven
This three‐act play is set in a Midwest American town in the 1930s. The plot centers on the long relationship of elderly Gibbs sisters and secrets that remain unspoken so as not to disturb the tranquility of their family. It deals with ramifications within the family when two of them begin to question their lives and decide to make some changes before it’s too late. Performances are 7:30 p.m. November 8, 9 and 10, and 2:30 p.m. November 11. Tickets are $23, available for purchase at the Magnolia Hall box office.

Veterans Day Ceremony
The Sun City Veterans Association will host the annual Veterans Day Ceremony at 10 a.m. November 10 at the Magnolia Hall parking lot. Army Lt. Col. Ken Dwyer will speak on the Common Brotherhood of Service. The Sun City Color Guard, Bluffton JROTC cadet marchers, Sun City Singers, Sun City Veterans Association marchers and more will perform. All Sun City residents are invited to this free event.

The Sun City Veterans Association will collect old U.S. flags for proper disposal and sell new U.S. flags, poles and house brackets from 9 a.m.–4 p.m. November 15 and 16 in the Pinckney Hall lobby. Cash and checks accepted. No credit cards please.

Town Square Upbeats Toys for Tots Dinner and Dance
The Town Square Upbeats’ annual Toys for Tots Dinner and Dance will be 6–10 p.m. Saturday, December 1 at the Pinckney Hall Ballroom. Dinner will be catered by Golden Corral and music provided by Target the Band. U.S. Marines will be in attendance. BYOB. Tickets are $30 each, plus one new unwrapped toy. Tickets are available beginning Friday, November 2 at the club’s weekly meetings from 4–6 p.m. at Pinckney Hall. Limited number of seats available. Call Ed Martin at 368-1460 for more information. This event is open to the public.
