The Government and Business Affairs Committee has launched a survey in order to collect resident feedback on the voter registration process and voter participation. The survey will be open through Monday, October 22.

Applications Accepted for BAC Vacancies
Become a part of the heart and soul of Sun City Hilton Head by volunteering with a Board Appointed Committee (BAC).
 
Residents who call Sun City Hilton Head home come from all over the world and bring a wealth of unique skills and experience that would be of great benefit to the community. The Board of Directors encourages YOU to share your time, talent and expertise by volunteering to serve on a BAC.
 
The BACs consist of seven (7) members and two (2) alternates.

Please consider donating your time to serve as a Sun City Hilton Head community leader.

Outdoor Pool Heaters Operational
All outdoor pool heaters are now running. Heaters are currently being installed at the Lakehouse outdoor pool and are expected to be operational at the end of this month.

Update Your Online Profile
It is important to keep your information up-to-date for the annual elections and for the Resident Directory. Updating your personal profile with the Community Association for the annual membership election and updating your information for the Resident Directory listing are two separate processes. Please
click here for instructions for reviewing what information is on file and how to make changes, if necessary. The Association is currently preparing for the new edition of the Resident Directory, which will be delivered in the spring of 2019.

Election 2018: Election Usernames and Passwords
Residents in 27 neighborhoods will vote electronically or cast a paper ballot to elect their Neighborhood Representatives (NR) and/or Alternate Neighborhood Representatives (ANR). The Election Subcommittee, which is under the Government and Business Affairs Committee, reminds residents that there is no Board of Directors election this year.

Only residents in the voting neighborhoods will receive communication with specific election details. Election usernames and passwords will be sent via email or through the mail so that you can vote electronically. All emails and paper mailings regarding the Sun City elections will be labeled as such. Please be sure to monitor your junk email boxes for this email, and Hargray customers should be aware that they have a particularly strong spam filter.
 
Please note that the voting period is November 5-9, and the election website will not be live until these dates.

Golf Course Maintenance Closures
Okatie Creek Golf Course closes at 11:30 a.m. Monday, October 22 for half-day maintenance and will remain closed through October 26 for overseeding.

Pine Straw Application for Argent II Neighborhoods
Contractors will be applying turf application and pine straw in developer installed beds only in Argent II managed neighborhoods beginning Monday, October 29. Please remove any ornaments or lighting that may interfere with the pine straw installation and replace them after installation. If crews feel that items are in their way, or could be damaged or disrupted, they may not get close to them. The scheduled routes are listed below:

Additional Pine Straw Sign Up Available
Additional pine straw sign up is available in Palmetto Commons at the front desk for non-developer installed beds only. Additional pine straw order will be delivered, installed and invoiced to the resident by Summit Landscape Group after the contract straw is installation is completed.

Tree Trimming To Begin This Month
Rudy’s Tree Service will begin tree trimming in Andover Place, Argent Place Cottages, Cypress Hollow and Plymouth Lane this month. Dates will be forthcoming. As dates are confirmed, they will be announced on the BuzzLine at (843) 645-4517.

Facilities Management

Fishing Temporarily Prohibited in Lagoon L-36
Please refrain from fishing in lagoon L-36 at Sun City Boulevard and Hampton Place, located in Hampton Village. Fishing is prohibited in this lagoon while it is treated for an invasive weed. This will help control the issue and prevent it from spreading to other lagoons.

Chipping Green Contest
Jim Brennan won the Argent Lakes Golf Course chipping green contest during the course’s reopening celebration October 26. He won with a chip of 17 inches from the hole on the new short game area.

The Callaway Demo Day that was canceled due to inclement weather in October has been rescheduled for 11 a.m.–3 p.m. Friday, November 9 at Okatie Creek Golf Course.

Café-Style Conversations on Compassion
6–8 p.m. Tuesday, November 13 at Riverbend with instructor Judy Owen
In this two-hour, café-style conversation, participants will discover what compassion means. Join guided, round-table discussions exploring perspectives of compassion such as self, family, diversity and ecology. Woodworkers & Modelmakers Guild Open House
The Woodworkers & Modelmakers Guild is holding an open house at the woodshop at 841 Red Dam Road 10 a.m.–2 p.m. October 20. This is a great opportunity for residents and guests to visit the woodshop and see the many crafts and services the Guild sponsors. Special Interest Groups like the Woodturners, Woodcarvers and Model Railroaders will display their best and have live demonstrations. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Avant Gardeners Club Sun City Garden Tour
The Avant Gardeners Club hosts its 17th annual Sun City Garden Tour 9 a.m.–1 p.m. Monday, October 22. Tickets are $6 for club members and $9 for non-members. Car Club Hosts 17th Annual Car Show
The Sun City Car Club will hold its annual Car Show benefitting Staying Connected from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. Saturday, October 27 in the Magnolia Hall parking lot, rain or shine. All are invited to stop by and see more than 100 collector cars, muscle cars, sports cars, hot rods and other unique vehicles. Trophies will be awarded. Admission is free. Buckeye Group Hosts Annual Pancake Breakfast
The Buckeye Group invites all residents to its annual pancake breakfast and silent auction fundraiser benefitting The Independence Fund. The event is 8 a.m.–noon, Saturday, November 3 at the Pavilion. A breakfast of pancakes and bacon will be served for a donation. Silent auction bidding is 8:15–11:15 a.m. Residents can meet current members of the U.S. Marine Corps and Sen. Tom Davis. Door prizes will be awarded and Ken Kolbe will perform music by Neil Diamond.
