Tell SunSations: How Do You Indulge in the Sun City Lifestyle?

There’s plenty in this community that makes your retirement luxurious: a fabulous entertainment schedule, state-of-the-art fitness centers, unique amenities such as the Woodshop or Sports Park, picturesque golf courses, a bustling and creative social scene, on-site massage services, three dining options, proximity to top destinations such as Hilton Head Island and Savannah, and so much more. So the SunSations staff wants to know: How you indulge in the Sun City lifestyle?

Send us a photo or a 25-word description depicting how you and your friends take advantage of everything this community has to offer. You may see your response in the special section of the 2017-2018 SunSations double issue. Send photos or written entries to Sunsations@schhca.com. SunSations staff reserves the right to edit submissions for clarity, spelling, grammar, punctuation and style. Then stay tuned for the December 2017/January 2018 issue, coming to your lower box this winter.

Purrysburg Fitness Center Closed for Renovations

The Purrysburg Fitness Center is closed during renovations to the locker rooms. It is suggested, if possible, to use the other fitness centers in the afternoons when there is greater availability for most of the cardio equipment. There will be no orientations at Purrysburg Fitness Center during the renovation.

The Purrysburg indoor pool hours have been extended daily as listed below until construction is complete. Extended hours for the indoor pool are self-use and for residents only. Please be safe and always swim with a buddy.

Hours for the Indoor Pool Only

Monday - Friday 6 a.m. - 10 p.m. Staff available 6 a.m.-8 p.m. except for Thursday staff available 6 a.m.-6 p.m.
Saturday 7 a.m. - 10 p.m. Staff available 7 a.m.-1 p.m.
Sunday 8 a.m. - 10 p.m. Staff available 8 a.m.-6 p.m.

The group water and land exercises classes will continue. The land classes will check-in at the front desk and go directly to the aerobics room as the entire gym will be closed and blocked off.

The water classes will check-in with a staff member at the back pool door closest to the croquet greens. Cash and member charges will be available for class payment at the back pool door. If you plan to pay by credit card, you will need to pay at the front desk, take your receipt and show it to the staff member at the back pool door.

Interval Circuit Training (ICT) will not be available during the renovation. After much discussion, it was not possible to move the sessions. Instead, receive a free group exercise card to attend any of the group exercise classes for free at any location. ICT cards will be activated when the center reopens. ICT trainers will be working as trainers on the floor at the other fitness centers during the times they normally would work the ICT program.

The Purrysburg Indoor Pool will remain open. Access the pool through the back doors. See chart above for hours. Restrooms will be available at the Logo Building or the Yemassee Crafts Center, so please plan ahead!

Golf Genius Coming Soon
At the end of 2017, the Golf Association Services of the Carolinas (GASC) will switch from the GHIN Tournament Pairings Program (TPP) to Golf Genius, a quicker and easier-to-use program for residents and staff.

The main difference in the two programs is the login process. Golf Genius requires each golfer to use their email address as their username in order to access the program. That requires each golfer to have their own email address. If you currently do not have an email address or if you share an email address with a spouse, you will need to get your own email address. Provide your new email address to the golf staff at any of the Sun City golf shops, and they will enter your new email address into the current TPP system prior to transition.

Golfers who are already registered and using TPP with a valid email address on file do not need to do anything prior to the changeover. The GASC will automatically upload Sun City’s current golfer profiles into Golf Genius so all golfer information, including email addresses, will be transferred over.

The GASC will provide the golf staff with an instructional video for login and navigation, which will be posted to the Sun City golf webpage, replacing the current TPP video online.

Stay tuned to eNews Weekly and the Golf eNewsletter for more information regarding the transition to Golf Genius. The switch to Golf Genius will not affect Sun City’s current GHIN Handicap Program as GHIN will still be used for score posting and handicap purposes.
